On top of that Goku fighting Freeza isn’t the only thing that is going on we have a planet that is gonna blow up and they have to find a way to get everyone off the planet which is going on at the same time as those two are fighting which obviously it is impossible to show all of it at the same time, so they have to show it one at a time, if you was physically there it would’ve been 5 minutes especially when the characters are almost moving at the speed of light to them 5 minutes is a lot of time.
