Something on the back of the note seems to have caught Martin's attention.

Oh, a strange note on the inside of the compass?Compass? AND having a sketch of what looks like the Stranger?? The plot thickens! Feels great to see Martin smiling after a long time. He finally seems to be warming up to Steban.

2024-08-13 03:54:25 +0000 UTCOoh, this is such an interesting page! We’ve got our first ever sighting of The Stranger, as I like to call it, in the official No North comic! Your drawings and concept art of The Stranger are some of my favorite of your works, as I just love the eeriness and creativity of it’s design and I am so excited to figure out its role in the story! In fact, I believe it’s one of the most if not THE most mysterious character in No North! Ooh, and I’m seeing some mention of Javier, Hank’s father, and Amaya there! I agree with other commenters on that I think it’s Joe who wrote this note; he talks about Amaya like she was very special to him, and we know that Amaya certainly was very special to Joe. Poor thing, it looks like the moment he started seeing those things was the beginning of the end; Again, I am so excited to see their role in No North! We also know he used to write in his youth! In fact, I’m excited to see him and Martin have talks about books and Joe give advice to his writing. Also super nice to see Steban helping Marge out when she requested he hang the paintings aswell- looks like he really will fix the damage he’s done- in fact, this could be a possible foreshadowing or metaphor, intentional or unintentional, that he will keep his promise and save the town after what he’s done. Think about it- even if it wasn’t really his fault (It was Billy’s!) Steban started a saloon fight and tore up the entire place! Marge certainly looked crestfallen at the cost of the repair. However, when Steban came back after a long day, he brought with him new hope and helped fix the tables and put up the paintings! Just rearrange some things, and you can relate it almost as a metaphor to when Steban did something apparently really bad (we don’t know exactly what he did yet!) and abandoned the town; then, he came back seven years (I think) later, and gave the town new hope and would then help to fix what he had done. Also, the painting that Steban’s hanging up looks like a crossover of Wanderers Over The Sea Of Fog and one that you did with your sona, where she was standing over the peaks of mountains and clouds! Also, the painting of Huron is pretty cool, too. I hope we get to see full versions of them someday, it amazes me how much mesmerizing detail you can put just into the background of one panel! It adds so much life and depth to the story and to the setting! I’m also glad to see Marsha in a happier mood! Look at her, smiling at Danny, just a few pages ago she was stressed and angry about Steban’s out-of-nowhere return. And look at Martin, finally smiling and feeling good about himself! And, writing again!! I’m so happy for him. I know how it feels to finally get out of this period of anxiety and self-loathing, and start feeling hopeful and optimistic and being able to do the things you love again- and, in this case, it looks like he’s finding a new place and purpose in his life, something he can really enjoy and learn to appreciate. I do love writing these comments, but I’ve been short on time lately, sorry about that! But I do want you to know, Skai, that every time i see a new page or piece of your artwork it makes me smile. It instantly makes my day better! No North is such a big inspiration and joy for me, and I’m so happy I’m able to be on this journey with you and the other members on Patreon! I hope you’re having a wonderful day, excellent page!

2024-08-12 14:26:01 +0000 UTCWow, this is a chilling page! 😨 It's one of those Okou creatures, like the one from your "Stranger" artwork. Amaya is referenced... this looks like a journal entry that was penned by Old Joe! And so the plot thickens... So at some point he had the compass during the Javier Hunter expedition. I wonder what the story behind these creatures is, or what they might want 🤔 This certainly does raise some questions! I can't imagine how scary it must be to travel at night and see glimpses of those things stalking you! That's a big nope from me! 😅 Even worse that nobody believed him about it! Also, I like the "Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog" painting that Steb is hanging up in the background 😄 And the Huron portrait! This is such a cool page Skailla, I can't wait to see how deep this mystery goes!

2024-08-12 13:21:03 +0000 UTCVery spooky! This is so curious, I have so many questions and theories. Personally, I think Old Joe wrote the note, because it mentions Amaya. But what could those creatures be..? They have skulls, so perhaps they’re connected to the Bull King! Whoever saw these things seemed to carry a heavy burden. It always is very frustrating to have people not believe what you say. Also Martin better be careful leaving that compass out in the open, who knows who could walk in! For those who might struggle reading it, the message says: *Despite my warnings, Javier ventured on. Our past few nights on the road have been especially eerie. From the corner of my eye I have been spotting them everywhere, stalking us silently like hell hounds. Dogs here are telling me I'm letting the stories get to my head. It feels like a heavy burden to be the only one who sees them. At least Amaya still believes me...*

Can definitely relate to Martin especially in life changes, like at first you think that it’ll go this way and you have best friends- then boom you’re like switching roads and turns out that nothing seemed like it should be + that your fate is something else as well with the fact that you trusted the wrong people, that’s what happened to me but seeing Martin accept that maybe his fate is more than one road is just so relatable!! Hopefully we’ll get to see Martin smile a lot more 🥹💚✨🦜🌿
