How have you all been??
SO here's something a bit different to shake things up in the middle of the week!
Last week I took the chance to do something I've wanted to do ever since I was a kid: sailing a tall ship!
And it was an absolute ADVENTURE! Just me, one german girl and 45 dutch people!
I made a little video to share a bit of our journey!
We were divided into 3 "teams" so that the Eendracht could sail 24h per day - so, many night shifts covered by stars! A lot of work in the kitchen and serving the tables as well (I've gotten quite good at keeping my balance with a tray full of ice cream bowls while 6 meter waves hit the ship).
We saw dolphins, a whale, sunsets and sunrises like no others, and we were even caught by a storm in the middle of the open sea. Tied up to the ship so we wouldn't fall into the pitch black raging ocean, I made sure I took every second in.
Maybe mostly because of language barriers, I messed up a few times (like the time I held a line and was pulled up, taking flight on deck for a second xD), but I learned a LOT! I have SO many stories from these intense 6 days of sailing, I've met so many amazing people onboard and made so many friends! In the end, I could only say that I'd do it all over again!
Naturally, I also drew and made up scenarios in my head during my free time - can you imagine how it would be if Steban, Martin and Delilah sailed the seas with Rupesh and his crew?
Something tells me Delilah would be super into it and would really get along with Freckles. Martin would start the journey unnerved and reluctant... But I feel like once he understood how the ship works, he'd start loving that horizon!
And Steban - well, he'd be so excited at first, but he'd probably mess up a lot (even though he'd really try!) and It wouldn't take long for him to be walking the plank xD

That’s awesome Skailla! Sounds like you have had a real awesome adventures on the high seas. Wow that sounds absolutely amazing seeing all those incredible marine animals and I could imagine the sunsets and and sunrise as well. Also love this concept art as well. I honestly can’t stop laughing at the pugs facial expression absolutely spot on.

2024-02-15 13:23:50 +0000 UTCThat’s so epic! I’ve always wanted to do something on the high seas! There’s just a sense of freedom you get when there’s nothing between you but the sea and sky. I remember one time when I was little, we went to San Francisco. One of the first things we did when arrived was that we rode a ferry from the San Francisco Ferry Center into the city. When I was on the boat, and I saw the harbor looming before me, I felt a wild sense of awe, excitement, and wonder. Just seeing the enormous buildings, the sea crash on the huge pier rocks and the clouds in the backdrop made me feel like I was one of the immigrants on Ellis Island coming to America for the first time! I also recall the sea glimmering beautifully in the sunlight, like sapphire. I don’t think I’ve ever seen water deeper blue than on the Pacific! It was an absolute blast. XD
