Agust D: D-2 Full Mixtape Review!!

Good Day Primos!!

It's time for a new album (mixtape) and our Journey continue with Yoongi! We didn't know what to expect but we knew it was going to be good. These songs were full of so much symbolism, reflection, ambition, reflection, the list goes on. He took us on an emotional journey that requires way more than one listen. And to finish it off, a powerful and raw song. Well done 👏🏼👏🏼

We can tell he poured his heart and soul into this one. Can't wait to listen to his next project! Do you have a story on this album, or have a favorite song? Let us know!

Agust D: D-2 Full Mixtape Review!!

Comments

I never liked rapping not until I found BTS. Their rap were well thought, delivered uniquely. And it always make sense. It's not empty words. But it is full of relatable facts. The vulnerability of Yoongi's lyricism always pull me back into the reality of life. D-2 is always be my favorite. The raw emotions. The truth of the reality of life. It hits me a lot. That's why I love Yoongi.

Glorevi Abellera

Okay, unpopular opinion but I’ve always thought the friend Suga sings about in Dear My Friend has already passed. Why? Because why is he so full of regret and emotions? If the friend is in jail, or in rehab, there’s always hope left. His story is still ongoing. But the way he was crying as he sang that song… it looked like sadness with a finality to it. And we know that Koreans don’t talk about the dead out of respect, so he will never divulge the whole story. Also, Suga is world-famous. If he’s singing about a friend he visited at the center, someone really close to him to the point the parents of that friend reached out to him directly, don’t you think whoever that friend is, he can actually say that the song is about him? Not so much about bragging rights, but that is clearly Suga trying to reach out to him. No matter what situation that friend is in, at some point he would have “received” the message that Suga is still thinking of him and wishes he made better decisions. Therefore, it’s not that sad. He can still turn things around. So if we think of this logically, looking closely at Suga, he reminds me of how I felt when I lost a very good friend to an accidental gunshot. It is the biggest trauma of my life, my friends and I went through the darkest of days when we were only 19-20 yrs old. Even 20 years later, when I think of my friend, tears still creep in and sadness inevitably finds me no matter where I am and what I’m doing. I can say that was honestly the biggest heartbreak to date, and if I could turn back time and talk to that friend, even just one conversation, what would I say? Would I have convinced him to not touch guns? Could we have possibly prevented it? This song allows me to relate to his same thought process.

Oh! I see. Maybe I missed it 😊 Thank you for the information.

tomtom

"Nobody knows what anything's called around here" My brain as I get older.

Elmo

Thank you for the translation of the low voice in Honsul. Also, he did two versions of Over the Horizon. They are both amazing!

Michelle Vergara

❤️🫶🏽💜 Thank you for this beautiful reaction.

Rina J.

I watched it belatedly and posted it now. "Honsul" means "drinking alone." The lyrics of the low voice in the beginning go like this. "Life is so hard, so hard, so hard, so I drink alone, so hard, my heart aches, so hard that I spend money alone, so it hurts so much, so hard that I flow alone." The song in the chorus of "Now I'm feelin' like I'm flyin'" is an unusual development, as you explained. This is my opinion, but since the lyrics of that part are "talking to myself while drunk," I thought it was an expression of the state of being drunk through music. Personally, it's my favorite part. I hope the translator translated it properly and helped you understand the song a little bit. 🙏🏻 P.S. The meaning of "white tofu" in the lyrics of "Dear. My friend" is that there is a culture in Korea where an inmate is fed white tofu when he is released from prison. It means to eat white tofu and live a clean life without sinning. And I recommend this part. Yoongi made a light music in around 21 years. It's fusion music. There's a song called "Horizon". "Over the Horizon" is Samsung put in a phone as a ringtone, but they asked Yoongi, who became a model for Samsung, to make the ringtone into music. It's a really cool song, so I recommend you to listen to it.

tomtom

To be honest, I get really emotional listening to “Burn It” because the chorus (for me) talks about his self-loathing. I go through that too sometimes, so it breaks my heart to hear him wrestle with his demons like that. “I see the ashes falling out your window… There's someone in the mirror that you don't know. And everything was all wrong. So burn it till it's all gone. Yeah yeah yeah burn it. The voice inside of me. Yeah yeah yeah burn it. I want it want it want it.” But then he gives us “may you never forget that a bold surrender is also a form of courage.” Yoongi’s ability to really go deep within and come up with beautiful words for his struggles is just magnificent. He takes you on a journey with him through his music, and I. AM. ALL. FOR. IT. BTS wouldn’t be BTS without the wisdom of RM and Yoongi leading the way through music (And the wisdom of the other 5 members too manifested in other ways)

Abbstract

Okay I paused it after you watched “Burn It” and you were talking about wanting to see a live performance of it. Abby said “I wanna watch it with Max!” Girl, what if I told you there’s a live performance of that somewhere and Jungkook is singing Max’s verses?? Mannnnn!!! I went wild!!! Can’t wait for you guys to react to that one!!! 😄

Abbstract

The best album, people, burn it, strange...

Victorya Rocha

yoongi is the reason i became army in the first place, and i sadly wasnt here when his first mixtape dropped so i completely went insane when THIS one dropped lol. I love the way he raps and portrays his emotions. And like Daniel mentioned, if one has time you could dissect every line and it would mean something. he's such a creative artist, always has been. 💜

laura

this album surprise dropped at like 5 am NYC time in the summer of 2020, almost exactly one year after i became an army. yoongi had been my bias from the very start and waking up to this album release felt like a fever dream, especially because it dropped the day before the dates i was supposed to attend Map of the Soul Tour in New Jersey (which obviously got cancelled). that was supposed to be my first time seeing them and i was so devastated that it wouldn't be happening, but this album dropping made everything feel okay. to this day it's probably my most played album and i have a tattoo based on my favorite song (moonlight).

Sharika

It's ok 👍🏼

Kearyce Moore

this album dropped during ramadan when I was still a baby army and I was questioning whether he was my bias or not , it was tough to hold back from listening to it right away, but as soon as i heard it it was confirmed that he was indeed my bias 😔

Remas

Pls react to his solo concert D-Day Tour for his birthday week

Parkping

lyric genius. People is one of my favorite yoongi songs ever 😭💜

wen

in honsool the word you cant understand are licor brands!

pamela

Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't the "friend" in Dear My Friend, went to prison then gone parole, then later took his own life?

Nami

Please react to his live concert during his tour

Monica Vargas

Hi CCW. 1st time to comment. To complete the experience, theres live version w/ RM, Max or JK and Jimin, you can check it out😀🔥🔥🔥

Haidee Min

I will single handedly get People to 1 Billion streams😭One of my favorite songs ever!!

Kristi Butler

People is close to Save Me tune right?

LoriG

Also, Korean age makes you "older". Basically it adds 1-2 years to your actual age lol. So Yoongi's 28, he was probably 26-27

Seneca

Agreed!! I've been hoping for this for so long.

Heather

Just starting my reaction! I will say the one downside to the first lyric video channel, is that they only flash a few words on screen at a time. Whereas normally, there'd be a whole sentence that you could read "at your own pace". But with this editing, if you just blink , you could miss a lot lol I happen to be a speed reader so I'm personally chillin lol, BUT I know CCW focuses on music simultaneously too, so I feel like the "slower" lyric videos would be better for you guys, imo!

Seneca

Ugh, I didn't include that he co-wrote Jin's I'll Be There oops 😬

akaV✌🏼

Yes!!! I get to see him in LA and was so shocked when Max came out.

Anna

I knew him from YouTube back in the day 😂

Anna

40s were my best decade ever.

Lisa M T

On yoongi's birthday week please 🤗💜

Sarrah Santos

Your reaction to dear my friend confirms to me that you guys need to watch El Capitxn’s Suchwita episode…like ASAP lol

Ahjusshi_Brown

You got Korean age wrong it is the opposite if he is 28 Korean age he is 27 or 26 Korean age

Helen H

Strange is such a philosophical bop. Gotta love when BTS randomly drops tracks critiquing the cruelty, hypocrisy, and selfishness of society lol 🙂‍↕️

Ahjusshi_Brown

Adora is also a former Big Hit producer (she’s since left to pursue her solo career), so she’s produced BTS tracks too not just added her vocal layering to tracks. But honestly adored blesses every track she gets on, her voice is beautiful

Ahjusshi_Brown

Seeing yoongi live in 2023 on his tour was so amazing! I was at the LA show where Max came out to perform Burn It with him! All I ever wanted was to hear Moonlight live and it was better than I could've ever imagined 🥰

Amanda P

This has been my favorite mixtape of yoongi, but the first one has special place in my heart

Kearyce Moore

And did background vocals for Jin's ill be there

Kearyce Moore

I think D-2 is my favourite mixtape. All the rappers made amazing mixtapes but I really resonate a lot with Yoongi’s music. The heaviness of it all really gets me having gone through a lot.

Yodit Y

He also performed it with Max in LA!

JB

Same. When I heard he became a producer and worked with Yoongi on several things it was a nice surprise.

Yodit Y

D2 saved me and a ton of Armys during the pandemic when we were all feeling hopeless and sad for suddenly having to pause our regular lives. So, when Yoongi came to us with a countdown to release day (out of nowhere!!) it took us all as such an exciting surprise bc at the time we knew they were also feeling sad about having to cancel the MOTS tour. I love this mixtape a lot. And I feel truly grateful that he gave it to us such an incredible work. I would listen to it non stop when it was released, my favorite songs from D2 are Moonlight, What do you think, People and Dear my friend. Thanks for the reaction. Can’t wait for the next one! ❤️

Rokm_

You got the korean age wrong 28 korean age is 27 international age Bonus fact: Jungkook performed Burn It with Suga in a concert . Thanks for the reaction CCW.

mimicha122

i can confirm that burn it in concert was a hypeee experience

Fiona

Just an update, yes hobi is still sleeping

K

the mixtape that saved my life!! i was 16 when i first heard 28 so i was feeling the whole "becoming an adult" anguish HARD. the lyric that has helped me through so much is in People, "There's nothing permanent in this world, everything is just a 'happening' passing through". i've struggled so much with depression and BTS have helped me so much, but man, Yoongi is just something else. i find so much comfort in the idea that my depressive episodes are not permanent, its just something thats happening and i'll get through it, even if it happens again. i just turned 20 (yay my twenties!!) so i was feeling the "becoming an adult" anguish AGAIN😭 but i finally feel like i know what i'm doing with my life and its been freeing:)

sandy

You missed it but the last song is about his friend that went to prison

Helen H

Before bts, i knew max from nickelodeon shows and movies

Kearyce Moore

Suga features on Max's Blueberry Eyes. And Max co-wrote Yet to Come.

akaV✌🏼

You went the wrong way 😆 28 in Korean age = 27 intl age. 28 is similar to IU's Eight in that they wrote about what they were feeling at that age. And ofc Eight was prod. & feat. Suga. And they are the same age both born in '93.

akaV✌🏼

As ya’ll get more familiar with Yoongi’s music, you’ll notice that he likes to call back or reference his lyrics in other songs- that’s why certain lines seem familiar to you. Because you’ve already heard him say the same line in another Agust D song or during his rap in a BTS song. I love that he does this; it makes his music seem like a conversation we keep picking back up when he has more to say on it.

Ali

I think you guys would like Max lol

Andredayyy

So dday concert after the last album?

Andredayyy

Good reaction, thanks CCW. Yoongi's lyrics (all the rappers) suck you in like a vortex and makes you think deep. Existential angst. The hatred they face is ginormous, and it reflects on Army as well. I can count numerous times in the past one year when most of them were in the millitary. And derogatory remarks online or offline are a given if you say you're a fan. If you haven't faced this, you've mentioned you're army in safe circles. I feel very disturbed when I see the viciousness in social media targetted at them even in 2025. Probably why I felt vindicated by some songs in Right Place, Wrong Person. 2,3 holds true even today. I hope and pray that the love they get will exceed the hate.

D

Burn it live is absolutely insane and everything you can imagine

Rudy🌸

I just asked myself yesterday if yall had already reacted to this it is my my fave album in the world from my fave artist

Nina 1995

Got Hobi’s live on my phone and CCW on my ipad. It’s gonna be a good day! ☀️

Ali

people and set me free were my favorite to listen to on daily basis, partly because I like to sing along to my songs and they're simply gorgeous like Yoongi's voice in them. Also totally my type of music that I would listen to anytime

Nallie

Dear My Friend is one of my fav Agust D songs. It's just so beautiful musically and vulnerable.

Charon's world

I don’t know if its because I resonate so much with this mixtape, or if its the journey we know he went through to create it, but to this day it is still my favourite album, not just by him, but in general. The production quality, the composition, the writing, it is truly an amazing album. I will always keep these songs close to my heart. Even in the way he structured it, it was perfect. The transition from Honsool where he felt hopeless, to Set Me Free where he wanted to leave it all behind, to dear my friend when it felt like he was shedding part of himself off. The instrumental of Honsool leading to Set Me Free felt like after a long night, breathing in fresh ocean air, and I think adding the bird sounds was intentional. I think Moonlight is probably my favorite song and Burn it is a response to it. In Moonlight he says everything around him is the same even if he has changed, in Burn It he says if I change or give up, will everything around me change as well. People on the other hand says its okay to change, its okay to cry, its okay, because everyone does. Yoongi has said multiple times that People is his favorite song, and he even listened to it for years after creating it. When he was making PP2 and the DDay album and he felt hopeless and burn out from writers block, he would listen to that song and just cry. If you cant tell, I really really love this album😂 I think each song besides What do you think and Daechwita was made to console himself and the listener. I also think creatively, he bloomed as a composer and producer. I think thats why DDay was so well thought out and produced, his experience with D2 gave him the confidence to make songs such as Snooze and Polar Night. Anyways, thank you for reacting to this mixtape, I will finish my essay here 😂😂

Minstradamus

react to Strange & Burn it live performance with Rm and Jungkook please

Bangtan

Shreya

"strange" is my favorite in this album.. thanks for the reaction guys 💜

i love purple

I really love Dear my friend because though my best friend then didn't exactly go through all that, it was a friendship I never thought I'd lose at the time but now it's like we don't even know who the other is anymore This was a really good mixtape. See y'all tomorrow 🫰🏾🫶🏾💜

Chalce Eze

Michell Dahlia Miranda

this is one of the first albums i listened to after i got introduced to bts (and what solidifed me as yoongi bias). for as "cold" or "emotionless" as yoongi often gets characterized, this man feels everything so deeply as illustrated by his lyrics and music. he thinks about humans and relationships and their connections a lot too. thank you for reacting as always!!

bb

Yea ill be back after hobi's live as well

Kearyce Moore

I'm waiting for them to watch it too

Kearyce Moore

Burn it is my favorite!! When I saw him on his tour he sang the Max's part with the help of the crowd. When he performed it in Korea Jk did Max's part. There is a video of it!!! Check it out!!

LINDSEY WARD

Best album from him in my opinion! Especially “Dear My Friend”. Such a heart-wrenching song.

Mya Papaya

guys you have no idea ,who is big enough to talk shit about bts well there own gov does it a lot(the gov party which awarded bts is no longer the ruling party in 2022 and 23 and the new one for sure was ready to use bts as bait with the busan festival suga incident and even during their grammy nomination - just watch the boracity video on suga scooter incident youll see how much the media still manipulates the public opinion about bts

Shreya

i love how suga mentioned military and saying they will go when they have to go cause there was a whole controversey regarding bts enlistment in the korean parliament at that time since jin is the oldest he had to face the brunt of it he told us about it during his live about astronaut release

Shreya

He sang it (burn it) live in d day tour with max once and with jk

Elhana Bamr

D-2 is such a great mixtape! You can really feel all of yoongis emotion he’s trying to convey in each song.
