Some real bangers in this mix of songs. Too hard to name our favorites here. We also need to sharpen up on our Japanese. 😆

To me it kind of ruins the first time hearing it because they already know what it's about..like a new song should be.

It just goes to show that the lyricists of the group are not only expert in writing with their native language but also they can express themselves poetically in Japanese.

Lights is also great, and I really like Let Go as well. Those are probably my top three although I like others as well.

2024-08-21 12:59:58 +0000 UTCUntil ‘Don’t leave me’ and ‘Let go’ even though I enjoyed the songs I was sad realising how little Jin got to sing in the early days. Sometimes only one line. Then ‘Don’t leave me’ and ‘Let go’ and ‘Crystal snow’ came out and he shone. He really is marvellous in the live versions. I started listening to their songs in late 2017 and at that stage in their songs Jin got few lines. V’s ‘Serendipity’ got me more interested but Jin’s ‘Awake’ got me hooked.and I stayed and became Army. The most underrated singer in BTS and often mentioned so little. His performance one day post discharge was amazing but you did not review it which is a shame. Also has torch walk in Paris for the Olympics was brilliant to watch. I am enjoying his variety show ‘Run Jin’ and his other variety show ‘Half Star Hotel on Lost Island. He is amazing and has not stopped putting out content for Army since his discharge. I know you have so much to review but it was an amazing event to be discharged and it’s a shame that in the last two months since he has returned we have only seen the one video of his VLive post discharge. I must admit I was disappointed. I look forward to his album. ‘Let go’ live is one of my favourite performances with great vocals and a lovely dance. 💜💜💜💜

I say sadness because it always pained me so much by the end of Let Go's live that while all members walked in one direction, JK was the one (alone) who walked the exact opposite way while lingering/looking at their direction before embarking on his own journey and walking away as well.

Let Go is a positive song, but still makes me sad. I also like Good Day, heard it after a long time, and made my mood better. My favourite Japanese ones are still Stay Gold, Crystal Snow, Your Eyes Tell. And Otsukare :D

In other words, it takes a lot of syllables to convey very little meaning, as you said. And you guys might be interested to read about the similar phonologies of Japanese and Spanish (if you google there's lots of info out there). It may explain why the language appeals to you. Sorry if this was brought up already. I tried reading all the other comments but they stop loading for me after a certain number.

2024-08-20 22:32:58 +0000 UTCSummer, I'm sure you're going to fall in love with their Japanese songs because I think they are easier for a non native speaker to copy the lyrics. I'm not sure if it's the language itself or because, when you sing in a different language, your vowel sounds are more pure, but I find the Japanese ballads so easy to sing along with. A lot of times, when we sing in our native tongue, we are less careful with pronunciation so that makes it harder for others to reproduce. Anyway, it's obvious you love to sing along, so Let Go will probably end up being one of your favorite BTS songs.

2024-08-20 19:48:20 +0000 UTCAgreed, Frayed, I think that was just a fan theory that got popular after the speech at MAMA 2018 where Jin mentioned that they had considered disbanding. People were looking back over the year for hints/signs and decided that Let Go must have been one, despite the fact that the members didn't write it. But, much like what later happened with Winter Bear, the fan theory started to be accepted as "fact." I actually think Suga's later reveal about Outro: Tear came as such a shock in part because so many fans had fixated on Let Go, lol.

As baby army back in 2019, thats when I became low key obsessed with finding that song 😆💜 Also Let Go - I remember listening to that for the 1st time without the lyrics and instantly feeling so sad and had to relisten to it 3 times... I can't explain it just felt so emotional from the way they sang/rapped, you can feel all it 💜💜

2024-08-20 17:15:04 +0000 UTCI would like to share funny story about "Don't leave me" this song came out back in 2018 . i wasn't aware about BTS's existence back then but this song was used as outro for so many videos, whatsapp edits here in India . especially that Jimin's part , i used to love that i had it as my callertune for months. I didn't know who was the artist at all till years later in 2020 when i was just discovering BTS discography that i got to know it was their song .

They usually release a japanese album during each of their "eras" with, like you said, japanese versions and then 3 original japenese songs. Here's the breakdown of japanese albums: Wake Up (2014) - at the end of the Dark & Wild era: - The Stars - Line Pt 2 (a sort of continuation of "Like" which is the song you hear at the beginning) - Wake Up Youth (2016) - at the end of the The Most Beautiful Moment In Life era: - Good Day - Wishing On A Star - For You Face Yourself (2018) - during the Love Yourself era: - Don't Leave Me - Crystal Snow - Let Go Map of the Soul: 7 - The Journey (2020) - at the end of the Map of the Soul era: - Stay Gold - Lights - Your Eyes Tell And then there's "Film Out" which was in 2021 on their japanese compilation album.

My main reason being - "Let Go" is a beautifully written song and I can see how the lyrics fit with what was going on at that period of time but it wasn't written by any of the members. Maybe it's just my opinion but I would think that this in particular, is a story only Bangtan can tell and therefore they would have a hand in writing the lyrics (as with Outro: Tear) 💜

The choreo is also very good in a contemporary seductive way so you need to watch your new favorite BTS Japanese song performed live. There's also a short clip of BTS singing Don't Leave Me in acapella during their in between song speech break in concert that you can find on youtube. I have heard the reason Don't Leave Me was never performed live because it is a difficult song to sing live with many harmonic parts and high notes required to sing with intensity.
