I swear I say this all the time but I love this journey so much, you guys HAVE to do Korra next. This combo of series is just something incredible. I came to it late but so happy I did

we’re already at the beach?! what the heck… idk why i thought this episode was later in the season… anyway loved the cringy teen movie moment aha and the glance into their lives, i love how they really flesh out the characters and LOVE how this szn the directors really play around with other cinematic effects… the fight with no music is just 🤌 thank u for the reaction!

And I don't think regular benders are super humans– I suspect it's just the animation/anime style haha

Seneca

You explained this perfectly. The writing on this show is so incredible– they've given such depth and layers to all the characters. Azula isn't just evil for the sake of needing a villain, and the same even goes for her father. Their entire lineage seems to be victims of some sort of mental abuse. And it could also be that it's just her brain chemistry, unfortunately. She seems like a sociopath.

Seneca

Azula (14) is younger than Zuko (16)! And I don't necessarily get the idea that Azula *knows* the Avatar is alive– I just feel like she's cunning/ingenious enough to cover all her bases JUST in case he is. And the reason no one recognizes Azula/Zuko (or even the Avatar gang as they travel), is because this is set in such olden times, that obviously there's no photography. The only way you might know how someone looks is a painting, and even those aren't necessarily all that accurate/widely available. Nothing a disguise couldn't hide, as the Aang gang have proved 😅

Seneca

With Azula being back to their old sibling bond, honestly it's a pretty standard tactic in abusive personalities. It's a type of 'love bombing' and it's part of the reason why people in real life don't leave abusive relationships. The abuser makes them believe if they just act 'right' they can have a perfect relationship... Speaking of Azula, I think a lot of people don't get is she's also a child of abuse. She's been praised her whole life for being ruthless and it's really messed her up. Not excusing her actions. but it does make her character a lot more layered.

I love this episode so much it was so interesting to know about their side!! Zuko is the older sibling and about his strength I think it’s because he was trained since he was a kid.

This episode humanises the villains, I love it
