2023-07-21 22:15:11 +0000 UTCAlthough I love all the characters for their unique quirks, I think Toph may be my favorite. If I remember correctly, she's a real spitfire. She really adds a different dynamic to the group. Also, her character is a teachable moment for kids. Sometimes our "weaknesses" can be our biggest strengths, if we don't let them define us.

(fun fact, the rock inspired the boulder’s character, and they originally tried to get him to voice!)

I can't believe that I didn't know, until I just looked it up, that the voice actor for The Boulder in the Earthbending tournament was none other than wrestling legend Mick Foley! It's crazy to realize how many superstars do voiceover work and you would never know unless you looked it up.

How it touches on the topic of Toph being misunderstood by her overprotective family while she can go by life just fine despite her disability. It kinda shows us that people with disabilities can be strong in their own way and often even stronger than us in some areas. About Aang and Toph fighting, I'm not sure how it would go if they ever fought seriously but considering how Aang can avoid Toph's attacks I would guess it may end as a tie? Previously he won, but only by catching her off guard. Let's not forget that earthbending is superior in defense over all other bending styles. She could probably defend herself from all his attacks as he would lack fire power to overwhelm her. Toph is a genius but so is Aang who became a master airbender at his young age and who is an Avatar. So hard to say. But both of them aren't invincible as we've seen in this episode - both of them got kidnapped, it was possible to surround them (they were on the roof so Toph couldn't sense them well?) and they easily got caught by metal cages which both of them cannot destroy. The metal issue is one of the things why Fire Nation is so strong and able to fight a war on multiple fronts and against the biggest, most populated Kingdom of Earth. Because they can bend fire their metallurgy and machinery industry is superior in comparison to other nations. We can see all the tanks, trebuchets and other machines, also those metal cages, being overwhelming for the other nations who cannot destroy them.
