Jin is the biggest Cold Play fan though all of them love them. This song has been on Jin’s play list forever. There is as usual a debate on who suggested it but I am sure many songs were suggested and as a team this song was chosen and when ColdPlay were approached they agreed, something they rarely do. They particularly were pleased with how BTS sang it. In the three part harmony it is Jin that takes the highest falsetto. He is known to have a great falsetto. (Check out his solo songs ‘Tonight’ and ‘Abyss’ and also the video ‘Jin, King of high notes’). They all sang well in the song especially the rappers who did wonderfully singing the octave lower part. Most reviewers have said it was Jin’s and Tae’s song and I think I can agree with that even though they were all wonderful. After this Jin went on to suggest a collaboration, hence that is how ‘My Universe’ came about. Both RM and J Hope went to their concert when they came to Korea a few years ago which shows all members are big fans. 💜💜💜💜

Hello this is late…but here is the setting of BTS decided to do this song and everything from my knowledge (feel free to correct me ARMY): -Middle of pandemic and BTS tour got concealed and bad news after bad news for BTS. They also were missing ARMY… -I believe Jimin really related to this song during the pandemic and asked the members to perform it and they all agreed. -MTV unplugged allows you to sing I belive 4-5 originals but then one cover. Coldplay actually is very strict on who covers this song. Knowing Coldplay allowed them such proves and shows a lot (this was before BTS and Coldplay did anything together and really any interaction) -After performance Coldplay tweeted, I believe, beautiful in Korean to BTS. -When BTS do covers they try and show respect to the song and artist so they don’t really do much change ups most of the time… About performance: -Jin was the one who belted or saying the higher notes 😉. -Personally I loved all their voices and the all sounded amazing. -I will be honest Suga kind of can sing but isn’t very strong in that area but he has said he has been taking singing lessons…he sounded really good in this performance though -Jhope out of the rappers has the biggest range and he is actually a sub vocalist in BTS. Meaning he does occasionally sing in BTS songs. -RM does have a beautiful voice, not the strongest, but beautiful… Thanks for reacting and glad you enjoyed it..💜💜

I have a bittersweet connection to this performance because it aired 2 days after my grandad passed away. Heyyyyyyyy!!! Okay I just watched this. A few answers to the things you've mentioned: Jin is definitely the biggest Coldplay fan but all members are aware of who Coldplay is and their music. I remember on Bon Voyage season 1, they had Trouble by Coldplay playing in the background from J-Hope's phone (which is like - goosebumps, cos that was during their Fire/Dope era, a time when they weren't as big as they are now - and now they had a collab and a Grammy nom together :o). And I think at some interview they mentioned something about watching Coldplay in their concert in Korea. :D Love love love your reactions, again!!! <3

You all should really see the hardships video just to give more a less the time line at how certain things happened to them and how they were able to cope and adjust. Jungkook is my ultimate bias… bc I multistan a bunch of groups but BTS is def my ult group and no one else is close lol but suga is my bias wrecker. I have a soft spot for the passion that the two of them show to their craft in their own ways..both introverts who are hilarious, both love language is action… and both do things for everyone without needing to be asked. I still remember at fest a couple years ago when suga said that jungkook had become the most mature member with the biggest heart and I melted lol suga talks about how when he works with other artists that he always tells them “jungkook is the most talented person I’ve ever seen” and that they agree with him lol he’s like such a proud papa when it comes to jungkook and it’s just adorable . However I love them all the same.. each of them so wonderful they on and off stage.. they’re such amazing people!!! I know you haven’t really gotten to know their personalities really but it’ll be a whole new world for you when you do . They’re so much fun.. and it’s okay if you don’t choose a bias lol whatever works for you guys!!! Here is something pretty cool. I don't know which channel you watched on because it is uploaded on both Bangtantv and MTV UK. BTS did this Fix You cover early in 2021, which Chris Martin from Coldplay saw & tweeted about (one word - the Korean word for beautiful). As they were not used to all English songs, RM says for Dynamite he sang the entire song, very low in the background as he is the most fluent in English. So Fix You was the 2nd time they did all English & it’s why RM does the most harmonies. Since then, they’ve released a few more all English- Butter which obviously was your introduction to BTS, then Permission to Dance and another gorgeous cover - this time for P Diddy/Faith Evans/Sting song I’ll Be Missing You. The official video is on BBC Radio One but sadly it doesn’t have English subtitles- Suga & JHope wrote Korean lyrics for their verses. If you were to watch, you might want to check the lyrics first. Although you could easily enjoy the performance as is & see a translation later (as all us International ARMYs did).

Congratulations on 50k! Both Jin and Taehyung are known to be huge Coldplay fans but for this cover it was Taehyung who suggested they do it. It was released before My Universe and Coldplay tweeted their praise for the performance. The part where you thought it was Suga singing the high note-that was actually Taehyung. Great reaction, as always! :)

I’ve loved Coldplay before BTS. And this song has been so special to me. And I love this version so much! You should watch the ColdplayxBTS documentary of My Universe if you haven’t already. Some of the boys had seen Coldplay when they came to Seoul way before they met. They have a special relationship and I’m so glad our boys have a great mentor in Coldplay who have been around over two decades. Thank you and congrats on 50K subscribers!

During the duet of V and Suga, it was V doing the higher register and Suga on the lower part. My vocal Bias Is Jimin, and my bias wreaker is Jin. Jin is such a crooner, I love that. Having said this, I have to agree, really they can all melt your heart with their voices. They can all make you Feel what they're saying. to answer your question, This was before My Universe. There's a;" Making of My Universe," video, and J-hope and a couple others had gone to a Coldplay concert, I believe they are all fans. It was Jin, Jimin, and Namjoon harmonizing on the 2nd chorus. Jimin started it but then passed it on to Jin so it was mainly him doing the high note that you pointed out.

I believe during the My Universe making is when Jin and Chris Martin got close in friendship and how eventually they ended up giving Jin The Astronaut.
