The North-Less Compass

Hey guys!

I hope you’re all doing great today. 

I have some wonderful news. The first draft of No North’s first book, “The North-less Compass” is fully written and printed, ready for revision and rewriting. 

Life got in the way a lot last year, but I’m taking 2019 to focus as much as I can on starting this comic. I’ve been planning, replanning, throwing ideas away and creating new ones for nearly two years now, not counting the Up and Ahead days. 

As you probably already know (since you guys get all the behind the scenes goodies) this will be a mystery adventure filled with wonder, danger and strangeness. Like I’ve said many times before, the hardest part has been coming up with a consistent lore, which in this case is pretty outlandish, and I’m not even sure it’ll work as well as I hope. Getting the right “tone” is very challenging as well, and it’s harder than it seems, believe me! 

I’ve been very reclusive for the last weeks. This week I’ve cut all my internet access so I could focus entirely on bettering the plots and replanning, and it’s been paying off. Since this is a mystery adventure, I’m plotting all 8 books at the same time, and that’s actually why I’m taking so long with this. Seriously, if you guys saw what this room looks like, you’d think a crazy conspirator lives there. Yes, I use all the walls and pieces of paper I can find! Haha

That’s not to say the story will be great, but I’m making sure to give it all that I have. 

I’m very sorry for keeping you guys waiting on replies, but I’ll catch up with you as soon as I can. 

You believe in this project, and you believe in my work, and I can’t thank you enough. There are days I can hardly believe this is actually real, and just how wonderful this is. You deserve nothing but the best, and I get so excited each time I finish a big step towards the real start of No North. You’re always the first people to cross my mind. Thank you a thousand times for giving me the strength to fight on. 

This sketch is the actual cover of the script. It probably isn’t anything like the real comic cover will be, but it was fun to make and kind of captures the spirit and themes of the story.

I’ll be diving into more reclusiveness soon, but not before I prepare some art for you guys!
