There are many stories about the meaning of the song but the main one I heard was it was written about his body image and how he felt about it and how he thought himself as chubby etc and once starved himself for ten days to slim down until Jin intervened and spoke to him and persuaded him to eat. It’s all about lies and deception about image. Knowing BTS there could be a myriad of other meanings as well. 💜💜💜💜

You got it summed up really well. Lie is about Jimin and his internal struggle. He was always the absolute hardest on himself for a long time. And he battled his demons hard. And with the help of his brothers and ARMY he says he truly learned to love himself and always take care of himself in a healthy way now. This song also has an explanation video that I think does the song so much justice. It breaks down the lyrics meaning and also breaks down the music and how the chord changes truly make this song a musical masterpiece. And Jimin had a big hand in creating it. I hope they watch it bc I know with how the guys love music they’d really enjoy it,and the women will get to hear the story of the lyrics.

There's not much we know for sure. Jimin wrote melody and lyrics. It was 4th track on Wings. This is the time the guys were going through a really rough time. trying to figure out who they were and who they had become, and how to handle it all. They really wanted to be in music. In an interview RM talked about how he and Jimin had the most trouble with this. Haters were on him for being fat, and Jimin went on a dangerous diet that Jin and the others finally got him to stop as he was exhausted. Hence he's always telling ARMY to eat well and please don't diet, stay healthy. So, my thoughts are This is Jimin using music to work out his dilemma. He felt caught in a LIE, trying be himself, and who fame and celebrity pushed them to be. Much of Wings is on this subject.2016 was a year of angst for the guys. They all went through it, and had each others support to find their way out. They talk about this often. So I think the evil temptress is fame and celebrity. ARMY, step in if I got anything wrong, you have something to add, or whatever. aside; LIE hit 80 million streams in 2018 I think but was knocked out of first by His solo,' Serendipity'. This song had 7 million views and 8million streams, IN AN HOUR!

Has anyone explained the meaning?

If you watch the dancing, you will see how it's timed to the songs so Jimin has a chance to breath. His core is so strong, he only needs a small break, but all the dances are made with vocal in mind. They are so smooth with position changes, they get the singer in front and switch out seamlessly. It also gives the next vocalist a shot at taking a breath. They use backing vocals, BUT all mics are hot, you can see them keep adjusting mics, and hear them on echo a bit in large venues. It took me months to figure out HOW, as a ex- theater kid and dancer in Chicago theater comm-unity, in the world they could sing and dance like that!

After seeing this song I saw some other classical musicians like yourselves react to this and they commented on the brilliance of the song where the major which should signify something bright itself is infact so dark.
