I AM TAKING VEX'HALIA'S KNEECAPS | Vox Machina Season 2 Episode 3 and 4 UNCUT Reaction
Added 2023-04-06 19:06:58 +0000 UTCIn which I have a meltdown about taking kneecaps for a PERSONAL OFFENSE. Also Kashaw is Seifer and I had to confront my cringe-ass Kingdom Hearts phase every time he spoke. I'm gonna go ahead and give y'all a volume warning right now.

The Purvan thing was totally a table joke - Matt made up the name and probably didn't say it out loud until it was in front of his players, who of course immediately gave him shit for it. https://youtu.be/KZkXNKFX6iU?t=53 is the clip from the campaign Also I 100% ship Zahra and Vex, their vibes are off the charts. Enemies to lovers 4ever Definitely store-brand Beholder - on the concept art they showed, it's referred to as an 'Onlooker'

It’s hard to tell how different the story would be if Vex hadn’t died there. Resurrection in Critical Role (campaign 1 at least, I haven’t seen any in the second campaign so far) is not a sure thing. There are relatively complex homebrew rules but basically it is a skill challenge with a DC that goes up with every time that character dies. Players can try to lower the DC by making individual checks to help - for example try to strengthen the magic of the ritual, persuade the soul of the dead to come back, or, in this case, bargain with a god. But it’s never 100%, which makes for some really intense and emotional moments. On to happier things: Trinket backstory! Grog and his beard!!! He’s so proud of it and I love how excited he is about it

2023-04-06 20:40:11 +0000 UTCTaking a quick break between episodes to comment a few things. 1. Watching you get increasingly nervous as the Death Flags went up was very enjoyable in a sadistic way. 2. The season was released in batches of three episodes a week. Vex’s death was the last thing people saw of the show that week and I am so happy I had watched ahead in the campaign and didn’t have to sit on that cliffhanger. 3. Keyleth is actually also a half elf, her anxiety about outliving her loved ones has more to do with the fact that she will eventually become an archdruid. 4. In case you’re interested in the mechanics of the death: it actually happened almost exactly like they showed. The armor was trapped, which Vex was about to check for when Percy touched it. She then failed her dex save and took a substantial amount of necrotic damage. Because they hadn’t taken the time to heal up from the fight before that took her below 0. The nature of the trap was that if it took you to 0, you die immediately, no death saves.
