Starting with the dialogue integration, there was quite a bit of work needed to follow up on the clash between Maddie and Charlotte. June will have to make a choice, not by taking sides, but by either intervening or reporting the fight to the teachers. (Screenshot 1) In any case, the teachers soon break up the fight. Getting this many characters on screen is always a bit tricky, so I had to be careful with the poses to make sure the characters didn’t overlap. (Screenshot 2) June’s decision can lead to some... unintended consequences. (Screenshot 5) After the segment, June can explore the playground and interact with either Maddie or Charlotte again. This part actually took me a while, as I had to write the dialogue, redraw the characters in the scene, swap out backgrounds for interactions with other characters, and playtest everything. (Screenshot 3) Finally, I got some help! Charis was kind enough to code and share a working version of the minigame so huge thanks to him! (Screenshot 4) That’s about it for now! Next week, I’ll probably focus on backgrounds again.
