Great set up episode and the next few episodes will be a journey. Also the director of Vinland Saga S2 said in an interview that he was sad that they didn't have the time to animate Snake's backstory and his past and so we don't see it in the anime but there is some context clues as to hint at his past but it is hard to guess without reading the manga. Just something I thought would be neat to know about.
