So this episode shows that the Tensen aren't fully unkillable and there is a limit to how much they can take. They need to drink Tan to recover their health. But I noticed something... Zhu Jin the Tensen Gabimaru fucked up was turning into a tree I think. So that means that the villagers all had tan in their bodies and maybe the Hermits stripped that away from them without them realizing it and that is when they started to turn into trees. That might be a connection for that. So you can live a long time with this elixir but healing/using the power from Tan will use up those extra years of tan which speeds up the time limit until you refresh it with Tan. There is a lot of theories around that I have going on. Also to note, apparently there is a good amount of discourse for Hell's Paradise due to disappointment. A lot of people are comparing this show to like JJK and Vinland Saga in terms of quality and flaws that it has. People have been hyped up for this show and feel like it's moving too slow and there isn't that many fights for this show, but if you look back, nearly every episode has some action/full fight scene that occurs. There is maybe 1 episode that is just exposition and dialogue but even then it is moving the characters and story further. I think people are trying to find excuses in the fact that Hell's Paradise unfortunately is on a budget and the people in Mappa are doing their best with what they got and who they got to work on this.
