At the start when you are talking about comparing new villains to established classics like Eggman and bowser, I Highly recommend learning about the Mario rpgs. Specifically the Mario and Luigi series as they typically go much darker and in depth with the antagonists. I'm not sure if Designing For has done videos on those games but I'm am sure there are decent videos out there about the lore of the rpgs cuz, for Mario games, they get wild lol
