2025-06-13 09:33:05 +0000 UTCRonaldo is a character nobody but Mohamad Bin Salman the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia wanted but also his inclusion tanked the Sales of Fatal Fury City of the Wolves because it was such a dogshit move. He also has ongoing rape lawsuits..... which was also the reason why people were so upset at his inclusion. Also the most boring character to play in the entire game.

2025-06-13 03:54:53 +0000 UTCI actually don’t know much about SNK games so it was fun seeing some of these characters for the first time myself along with hearing your thoughts on them and putting it into words way better than I can. There are a couple tidbits surrounding SNK that I do know of and was reminded about while watching the video so I might as well share them here. The first thing is when Cerby mentioned seeing Terry as a girl at some point, that’s most likely the design from the game SNK Heroines which as the name implies had only girls from various SNK games in the roster, but because they wanted to have a couple of the iconic guy characters in there, they just turned them into women. From what I remember it was actually considered a decent game in terms of gameplay (much to everyone’s surprise) but it came out during a time when there wasn’t much interest in SNK and the netcode was bad and it took too long for the devs to show that this was supposed to be more than just a DOA-esque fanservice cash grab so it didn’t garner as much of a fanbase as it probably could’ve. The next has to do with Salvatore Ganacci and it’s that when he was first announced there was A LOT of backlash from fans because they didn’t like that he was a “nobody” (in comparison to Ronaldo who they already didn’t super love that he was taking up a spot that could’ve gone to another fatal fury character but were more okay with because of how big Ronaldo is). There’s more to the drama involving Saudi Arabia owning SNK and stuff but I remember people being really mad about the inclusion of Salvatore at least until the release of the game. This was when the tides changed and now most people actually really like him being in the game and it had to do with the fact that in game he is pretty goofy and has some funny and “quirky” special/super/idle animations. It also helped that the actual person was pretty humble about the whole thing and you could tell he was just excited to have the opportunity and gave it his all, even doing some of his animations IRL at events and showing that he is interested in fighting games or at least definitely to a greater extent than Ronaldo who probably doesn’t even remember that he’s in this or the money that he made from it. The final thing is that when you were mentioning that there might be a game that you wouldn’t want to do this style of video for, I immediately thought of Melty Blood. I think I recall hearing that Cerby likes Type Moon or FGO or something so it would maybe seem like there wouldn’t be an issue with checking out Melty Blood (Actress Again or Type Lumina), but the character designs for that game are unfortunately like 80% just really “bland” basic anime trope designs such as kind looking high school boy or maid 1, maid 2, and technically another character that is just maid 1 + maid 2. Even among the competitive FGC who don’t usually say much about character designs, people were arguing back and forth about Melty Blood’s lack of drip and why it does or doesn’t matter so I think it’s probably best to skip it if you’re thinking of doing another fighting game roster design video both because it might not be that interesting to you and because who knows the Melty drip war might reignite in your comments section. It’s sad too because the games are pretty fun and in the lore the characters are quite likeable and/or interesting, but you will almost certainly not get that by just seeing them in their school/work clothes.
