Unitology is what happens when you get a megacorp deciding that they want to make 40k real, but they still want to run a profit off of it. Dagoth Ur is the primary antagonist from Morrowind, but he's one of those villains that get a lot of talk but you don't have any personal interaction with the man until you step into the game's final dungeon (which isn't even all that long). He had a revival over the last decade or so and has become a venerable fountain of memes, even though he's barely a character in the game.
Dead Space 2 does not dynamically change how scary it is, but its horror factor comes from how in control of the situation you are. Sure, a jump scare can make you, well, jump, but jump scares are to horror what fart jokes are to comedy. They can function, but you can't rely on them. Real horror is from the feeling that you are not in control, even though Isaac has enough military hardware to take apart most of the things 40k could throw at him. No, it is scary because the enemies can get the drop on you at any moment, and at the higher difficulties you have to deal with some very limited resources.
Getting all the DLC stuff was a bit of a cope/surrender on EA's behalf. A side effect is that the first time you equip one of the new suits you get healed to max, and selling and buying back one of the DLC weapons is a full reload for free because the guns come with a full magazine. While this means you get a good chunk of your arsenal for free, all the weapons and armor are eventually outclassed by the stuff you can get in the game proper. So while it makes the early game easier, they're not the best stuff you can get. Games used to really be into this pay for power angle back in the day.
Next up is Dead Space 3, which... hoo boy. HOOOO BOY.
