Well they didnt mean to hurt her, they saw her walking with her armour on "the walking church robe" so attack her to do just enough damage to do overvoem the armour knock her out but Kanzaki didnt know touma destroyed the armour without them realising not that they ment to hurt index, But yea i like how the light novel and to some exstent the anime visuallizes/angles the perspectives and angles. Even something so simple along with the line Magnus gave touma as he asked depending on how you look at it it can be a Evil force reveling in it, a simple nuetral/something party answer question, cruelty or bystander. BUt that might just be how i always read into it
