Bit more obvious but the title is a reference to William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.

In the first season, episode 11, Watanuki is making Ohagi for the Obon festival and gets a postal from Himawari who is out of the city. This makes the movie episode 10.5 of the series.

THe Saoyran thing at the end of the movie is from the sister Series Tsubasa Reservoir chronicles. You see this movie and the Tsubasa Chronicles: Princess of Birdcage Kingdom movie are a double feature. in the other movie they need a Key of sorts partway threw and hence the scene and in turn they give something to yuki that will be used elsewhere... While the xxxholic series tends to cut the "cross-overs" tsubasa keeps them as its the crox of its plot. The the Movies and the OVA's of the 2 series are more straight forward with it as it is considered "exstra"content so they leave in the conections to better consistancy for the manga sales

2024-11-30 04:32:02 +0000 UTC"is this like a in-universe thing" no, like domeki said in america there are some houses where to deal with the ghost of the haunted house they keep adding confusing parts to the house every time there is a new owner to confuse spirrits. if i am remembering correctly back in the early 2000's there was a person (adult that reported there mother missing after she did hear from her in a week, later on the mother finally contacted the daughter turns out she was just lost in her house, with staircases that lead knowwhere
