Clanners never lost their Star League tecnhology, rather they improved it and developed new things. So, OmniMech technology was an invention of Clan Coyote. Its concept is based on modular weapon mounts on Mercury light mech that was created during Star League era and operated by SLDF. Also, "LB" in LB-X autocannon means "Lubalin Ballistics", the original designer and manufacturer of the weapon. X stands for eXtended (range), most likely. It's a lighter version of a basic autocannon that is able to shoot further, runs slightly colder and uses specialized cluster ammunition alongside standard shells to deliver more damage. Basically, LB-X is long-range shotgun autocannon.

Since you need to replace broken parts wholesale, you have to have a whole lot of spare parts to keep an Omnimech army on the field. Clanners make test tube babies based on the genomes of the best warriors of a generation, and raise clones with the same DNA in "sibkos" where they compete with one another to be the best instance of that genome. They're competitive literally from birth, and call people born in the old-fashioned way the slur "freebirth". The Clans are problematic from bottom to top, in other words. There is part damage in Battletech. 'mechs have "slots" where you put gear, and whenever a shot gets past armor to hit the 'mech's innards you have a chance to hit one of these "slots" and damage or destroy whatever is in that slot. If that is an ammo bin, there's a chance the ammo will explode. If ammo explodes inside a 'mech, all ammo in that part of the 'mech explodes and likely destroys the 'mech completely (Unless you have CASE. CASE vents the explosion outside instead. All Clan 'mechs have CASE built into the armor for free. Yes Clans are bullshit. Take a look at the Clan Large Pulse Laser if you don't believe me.)
