The Atlas is one of the biggest and nastiest 'Mechs in the setting. These are highly specialized weapons platform with a dedicated role on the battlefield. So of course there's the rich dudes of House Steiner who drop entire lances of Atlases for things like scouting missions. Yes, the military doctrine of House Steiner is to throw doomstacks at everything. But the best 'Mech isn't one of the big ones, it's one of the smallest. The Urbanmech, lovingly referred to by the fanbase as the Urbie. Think of them as 30 ton Fabergé eggs crossed with R2-D2 as a nuclear belligerent. Yes, these little fellows have a loadout that was hastily canonized by the devs that includes ten half-kiloton warheads, because the devs thought it was funny to have these smol beans commit crimes against humanity (which still exist in Battletech, though most governments operate on "give us a good reason you used it and we'll ignore it" rules of engagement).
