The whole WOLFWOLFWOLFWOLF thing started with 5th edition, where most factions got the identity (and in quite a few cases the models) they have today. But where the Space Marines and the Grey Knights got Mary Sue'd to hell and back the Space Wolves got wolfed in their entire. Now everything is either wolves, references wolves or at least has wolf imagery. Almost everyone has wolf names like the infamous Canis Wolfborn, aka Dog Wolfborn. Even the ones who tone it down a bit are Lukas the Trickster and Arjac Rockfist, aka 40k's Loki and Thor. The latter ever comes with a lightning-imbued hammer that comes back to his hand after he throws it. And the Chapter Master himself, old man Logan, takes after Odin... and has a levitating sled that is dragged by a pair of wolves. The Blood Angels got a more subdued variant of this with a bit of blood symbology here and there, with the most over the top variant being psychic Dreadnoughts who could use psychic powers like sprouting a pair of wings and flying with them. The Dark Angels just became badass and upped their overdesigned knight look.
