Most of the daemon characters are playable in both 40k and Age of Sigmar, which means that GW used to have two armies with just a single miniature line. Some of the details differ: in both instances Skarbrand was hurled from Khorne's tower to eventually crash, but where in Fantasy he landed on the same planet as he was flung from (kinda, the Realm of Chaos is a bit messy), in 40k he was flung through the Warp, got launched out of it, flew across space and eventually landed somewhere. So in 40k he got flung harder and farther. Another difference is that in Age of Sigmar there is no longer a pure daemon army: each of the four gods had their daemons folded into an army with the matching mortal followers. So no more Daniel leading a merry band of daemonic followers to gain fame and glory. 40k still lets you do this (with options for allying daemons to a Chaos Space Marine army), mainly because the Emperor's Children/Slaanesh doesn't have an army of their own at this point. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, given how neutered and stripped of options the aligned armies are (especially Khorne).
As for the blood thing... hoo boy. Back in the 5th edition Grey Knights codex there was a story where a bunch of Grey Knights were on a planet that was under assault by a nanite based weapon from the Dark Age of Technology, controlled by a Bloodthirster. It was like a grey goo weapon, except of it being grey and goo it was red and blood. This was such a potent weapon that the only people on the planet who could stand their ground was a contingent of the Sisters of Battle, whose faith kept the daemon at bay. So when the Grey Knights showed up and saw all this nonsense going on they decided that the only way they could possibly strike down this Bloodthirster is to go up to the Sisters, butcher them, coat themselves and their weapons in their nanite-resistant blood and take it from there.
Fan reaction to this was less than positive. Not only was it mean spirited to an army that was already very behind with its model line, there are many reasons why this would either not work or never be done. For starters, while the Sisters are absolute in their faith the Grey Knights have indomitable wills when it comes to corruption. Each and every one of them have been trained to hell and back to be able to shrug off daemonic influence of every kind, and have been given arms and armor to improve this even more. This is paired with the fact that this codex that this appeared in hyped the Grey Knights up even more, to the point where they were absolutely perfect and incorruptible Mary Sues that could probably banish a greater daemon by blinking at it hard. So when they get gassed up like this only for them to go "lmao blood" and chop up the Sisters just to "fix" a flaw that the very book says they should not have... well, that doesn't work. This incident since became known as the "Khornate Knights", and is still mocked to this day even though it has been retconned.
Now, the Grey Knights do have standing policy that everyone who learns of daemons without having the proper clearance (so not part of the Ordo Malleus) is to be executed ASAP. The only noes who get to avoid this fate is the Space Marines, who merely get their minds wiped. This is also why those who are being called upon by the Ordo Malleus to fight daemons have a death toll of 100%. This has caused several conflics between the Grey Knights and other Imperial factions, most notably with the Space Wolves.
