on vampire counts, they have a mechanic called "the dead rise again" that gives a chance of resurrecting any unit that dies, while fighting on land with high vampire corruption, ANY unit, even lords, with 100 corruption and no tech to boost it, there is about 20% that completely wiping out an vampire army, aka killing every single unit, would not end the army, even if the lord was killed they might just come back immediately after battle, and if not all the army comes back? the raise dead mechanic can be used to beef up any holes in the army. basically, the undead got a lot of love from the TW3
