Season 1 definitely gave Percy main character vibes, but everyone's backgrounds are important - his was just tied into the main plot and required the whole gang to go clean up. And they did, and now they have a "home base"! So everyone else's backgrounds will come into play this season. Arguably, season 2 and 3 is one long Vex and Vax backstory plot arc, since she's the one who studied dragons her whole life because one killed her mother.
