Seems like a fair system. The fact that you can make a replacement character is cool, but now also has me worried about future seasons of the show. XD

No, not yet. But by now you know that. The fight against Pervan Suul, the solution was the first step to becoming the champion of the Goddess of Death: Accept death. On dying, death, and resurrection in DnD: When you reach 0 hit points, you are "unconscious and dying". While dying, you roll a death saving throw every round. Damage loses you a death saving throw automatically. Once you fail 3, you die. If you succeed 3 before you fail 3, you stabilise at unconscious and wake up with 1 hp after a certain period of time. If you get healed before you fail 3, you're all good. There are multiple spells that can raise someone from the dead once they have died properly. They all have one thing in common: They require a very valuable gemstone, which gets consumed when the spell is cast. In Matt Mercer's world, you also have a die roll, that gets harder every time you get resurrected, and that can be influenced by people around the spellcaster giving offerings or aid in the ritual. Once a character is considered impossible to bring back, the player creates a new character who will have to meet with and get included in the party.
