Here's a free tip from an experienced GM if you ever get to play a tabletop roleplaying game. If you describe what you are about to do and the GM says, "Are you sure?" - take it seriously. Don't just blow it off. Try to see what you are about to do from an outside perspective. And if it's risky but awesome enough, do it anyway. Those are some of the most memorable moments of any TTRPG.

Using the Skype call as a part of the story is such a fun idea. I'm curious to see how experienced DM's weave their stories together.

He said he was Lord Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III, what, are you hard of hearing?
Ashley Johnson, who played (and voices) Pike Trickfoot, got a role on Blind Spot (a TV show). During this period of the campaign she was in New York filming while her character was off screen sorting her issues out, until they found a way for her to join in. She Skyped in to games and was displayed on a screen where she would usually sit around the table. The connection was not very stable - this was long before the pandemic made online meeting software critical to many companies. They said she was astral projecting to join the evenings she *could* join, and the rest of the time the astral projection was failing.
As for the romance stuff in the show - it's built from a DnD campaign. Not all character development is toward a goal, sometimes it just reflects events that happened organically during play. As for why Vex seems so codependent, we'll explore their backgrounds more later.
