Oh, also re: DnD: They use DnD classes and abilities but they don't ever name them. They also don't rely on mechanical descriptions, like in this episode Pike ran out of spell slots for healing after using a bunch in the battle and then to heal Grog (and Keyleth used all hers in the battle too), but all she says is "I'm too weak from before", no mentions of spell slots or long rests or anything. DnD knowledge is not neccessary for the show, and it is deliberately decoupled from the DnD IP (which is very good considering what WOTC has been up to this past year).

2023-09-08 14:20:08 +0000 UTCThe first two episodes covers things that happen before the streamed campaign; the DnD campaign was originally a private campaign that was then taken to stream. Matt Mercer is not only a prolific voice actor but a very good GM; he writes NPCs and places that feel alive, and isn't afraid to let the characters' actions have real consequences. A lot of the events on the show are directly from the campaign. Some of it is new, as when you actually know how things will turn out, you can foreshadow things - and some characters and entire arcs were cut for time. When you have more than 100 4 hour DnD sessions and want to condense it into 3-5 seasons of 12 episodes each you have to cut out a LOT. Also check out the cast list.
