Correction. The book is about E company of the 506th regiment of the 101st airborne. I got mixed up and combined 506th regiment and 101st airborne into 501st airborne.

This show was based on a non-fiction book about The 501st Airborne. The author researched documents and reports, travelled to the battlefields and interviewed the surviving soilders in the 90s. Several of whom were interviewed again by HBO, which is what we see at the start of the episodes. Those are the real men but they refrain from naming them as that would spoil who lives during the course of the show. You'll find out who is who at the end. It's argued that the show is 80 percent accurate to history but you have to remember most if it is based off interviews, which could be biased or misremembered. Point is the book and show are about as actuate a depiction of WWII you can see.

First , Thank you for your service and sacrifices. I have heard the same for BHD. Both from vets and on the many commentary tracks on the physical media , which has many of the soldiers who were there on it. Also , for Vietnam , Hamburger Hill is the most accurate. One of my Uncle's was in Vietnam , and he had trouble making it all the way through the film. Hardly any reactors have done either of those films. Peace

Blackhawk Down came out while I was in the Navy. Later I served with an Army unit and met two guys who were there. One of them in a joking manner said "That movie retriggered my PTSD". It is one of the more accurate portrayals of real events. Maybe Thirteen Days and We Were Soldiers also make the list.

Your hat game is always on point sir, this one included.

So we are getting Vikings cool. 🎢Hard on the overturned keel, clamber with heart of steel. Cold is the ocean spray, your deth is on it's way and your death is on it's way🎢

Really like the STG myself and can't go wrong with the classic Colt 1911

Winters and Easy Company's attack on the artillery was textbook. And then literally became textbook, as it's now part of military theory.

Regarding the interviewees in the beginning. The show intentionally won't disclose their identities until the last episode. Presumably because knowing who survives might take something away in terms of suspense and immersion. I think keeping with this will give you the most satisfactory experience. You might of course speculate, but I urge those who know not to confirm it.

Annnd we're done! Outstanding reaction Sir! I do so enjoy seeing you on the edge of your seat. : ] As for schedule of drops being off , No big deal. Your family comes first , and we know you will get back at some point. Personally I am fine with it. Plenty of previous drops to catch up on , or re-watch. This one was somewhat less of a fuckin with my emotions episode , and more of a action packed then reflect episode. Still , a bad ass show! Looking forward to tomorrow's drops. Peace. BTW - I highly recommend the film Black Hawk Down. Director- Ridley Scott. Amazing based on actual events war film. ; ]
