I like the Swedish movie series more than this one; however, the American version was closer to the book. There's a lot of reoccurring themes regarding the abuse of women, governmental failures, and the abuse of power. The subsequent Swedish films go deeper into Lisbeth's past and why she turned out this way. Though, its interesting that you assume she is a loose woman when she's shown having (willing) relations with only 2 people, same as Mikael, during the film. Additionally, while it is not explained in this movie, the woman she met up with is a friend of hers. I'm wondering why exactly you came to this conclusion in regards to Lisbeth in particular. Meanwhile Mikael had already destroyed his own relationship due to infidelity and was perfectly fine with starting a physical relationship with a much younger woman whom he knew very little about.
