GODFATHER 2 FULL REACTION

GODFATHER 2 FULL REACTION

this was LONG....but also amazing!

Mister_Bleak

Crows, like many animals, turn out to be way smarter than we thought they were. It’s startling.

Susan B

Was curious what this link would send me too but quickly found out that I’ve already seen this. The link is safe if you’re worried about unsecured sites. It’s just a YouTube video. However it would be great content for a reaction Mr Boyd

John Dodo

Michael is a tragic character. Vito's legacy was the family, and by the end of this second film, Michael has alienated or killed what remained of it.

David Melo

You say "well done" when michael makes all his final moves at the end of the movie. sure he has absolute control over the Corleone empire, but at the cost of his family and humanity. He ends up alone. In the end, this trilogy is a tragedy about the fall of Michael in his pursuit of power. All his actions were to serve the family, yet the consequences are that he ends up with no family. He's a failure. Everything that Vito created, Michael destroyed.

David Melo

Enrico Fermi emigrated to the USA and went on to do great work and have many valuable contributions as an Italian-American. That's why the senator brought him up.

David Melo

Ima homo-sapiens. Is Boyd? Or is he homo-azzburgers? Is that technical term?

VitaminPete616

A Christmas present for Mr Boyd and the group. Mind, prepare to be boggled. https://youtu.be/tpg3VvoIVfA?si=bFIPp6YYlM5LkAZS

Love the lens mug!

For the MrLBoyd Discusses channel. I put some notes so I dont forget my points

Lenear Boyd

Great summary

Dasypodidae

Fredo is instable but Michael for sure isn't a pure stoic. That man has his anger issues as well lol.

Dasypodidae

Yep, the static got a bit crazy in this recording.

Dasypodidae

Did I hear it correctly and were you speaking about a teleprompter? Where do you use this for?

Dasypodidae

I'm intrigued. I'm definitely gonna check it out some time.

Dasypodidae

I think Fredo was so broken and ashamed at the end - and so grateful to be “forgiven” by Michael and brought back into the family - he would have happily lived out his days at the family compound with his sister, Michael, and as an uncle to Michael’s kids. He and Anthony were developing a bond, and Michael let it happen. Tragic.

Susan B

He just this year released Megalopolis, a controversial film that went almost immediately to streaming. It was a big deal at Cannes, but critics seem split down the middle about whether Megalopolis is a visionary masterpiece or a nonsensical waste of its huge budget. I haven’t seen it yet.

Susan B

I don't get the hype. Being a cinefile these movies are probably the most overrated of all time. Just dull with nothing but unlikeable characters and excessive vulgarity. I mean two hours into the film and nothing happens. Just long drawn out shots that are emulated from the first film. There must be 20 scenes of Al Pacino staring off into the distance and pondering something as the camera slowly pans in. Like does Coppola ever get off his lazy ass and change direction. He knows how to suck the humanity and life out of something. I'd rather watch X-Men dark Phoenix cause at least something happens and flashes on screen to entertain me.

Slimsycentaur37

Great comic performance by the landlord who comes to Vito and offers to lower the old lady’s rent. His struggle to open the door is hilarious.

Susan B

3 is highly entertaining. Not always in the way it means to be.

Susan B

God, yes! He makes Fredo so desperate and pathetic, like a kicked basset hound.

Susan B

He seems disinterested in his family except as posessions.

Susan B

Nerd Note: Michael is still wearing his wedding ring in that final scene. He still loves Kay, to the extent that he is capable of love. Always a bit unsettling to see people talk about what a horrible person Kay was, even before the controversial abortion, but Michael gets a pass for being a horrible husband and father plus a serial murderer; marrying another woman without letting Kay know he was not coming back to her; then wanting her back so lying to her about the life they would have if she married him; ignoring his daughter (he asks Tom to make sure his son gets a nice Christmas gift); leaving Kay alone and pregnant after the terrifying shooting at their house; sacrificing the life of a girl in order to put the senator in his place; letting his son become attached to Fredo while he was planning Fredo’s murder; using their sister Connie to get the child out of the way so that Fredo can be killed. I love Pacino’s performance, but I hate Michael in this second film. By the time we catch up with him in Part 2, he become as purely selfish and brutal a character as any of this enemies.

Susan B

Coppola may have thought that, but Fredo was weak and dangerous. There is no certainty that he couldn't be swayed by another family later down the line. All of his allies are dead for now but who knows later. When he blew up at Michael, there was a LOT of repressed rage and I don't think it just went away.

TigerMyth

The scene in the stage-porn theater in Cuba (“Superman” ) is significant because Fredo had previously denied knowing the guy who, when he is drunk, he says introduced him to this place. That’s when Michael knows for sure that Fredo has been lying to him.

Susan B

The audio static is very distracting. Unfortunately

Shpadoinkel

Ok now that we've seen #1 and #2, we can watch "The Freshman" which has some fun callbacks to the Godfather series, as well as Matthew Broderick and a Komodo Dragon. No spoilers!

Meg Geddes

Michael has reached another level by the end of the movie. But it's a place Vito never went or even wanted to go. Michael has reached the heights, but in the process destroyed his family. The very family he initially set out to protect.

gak9319

I agree with you for the most part, I guess that depends on your definition of 'big". The Conversation (1974) is generally regarded as one of the best movies of the 1970's, but I don't know how "big" it was/is. Kind of crazy that the next contender is maybe Bram Stroker's Dracula?

Carl Lyngholm

Jon Cazale(Fredo) was a great actor.

gak9319

A real gangster doesn't take less money and is happy about it. That's when Vito was sure Fanucci was a fraud. There is a cut scene set earlier where Vito follows Fanucci around and sees him getting attacked by some random hoods, that's when he starts to suspect.

gak9319

Think you missed Fredo mistakenly confess in the "Superman" club , just saying he all of a sudden knew Johnny Ola and Roth

gak9319

Moe Green was one of the people Michael had killed at the end of the last movie.

gak9319

I'm always surprised to learn that besides the godfather and apocalypse now, Coppola didn't really direct any other big movies.

Dasypodidae

lol. It did. Usually he would catch a clue like that but he couldn't fathom someone wanting to see a live sex show like that.

TigerMyth

You might want to close the loop with 3. Personally, I think you time is better spent watching the 1 season series that depicts the complete insanity around producing The Godfather. I HATE Part 3. I don't just find it weak, i hate it. But...... you still might want to close the loop. If you can watch the weak and horrible late Marvel / later Xmen movies, then you can deal with the weakest Godfather movie.

TigerMyth

I prefer Vito to Michael, but purely as art I prefer Part II to Part 1. Part 3 is absurd yet fun.

Susan B

Coda (Godfather 3) is worth seeing and has some spectacular set pieces, but it’s a mess compared to the first films because there was an unrealistic deadline by the studio that wanted to milk this cash-cow. I equate it to the Hobbit trilogy. 😬 It exists because what preceded it made money, but some of 3 is laughably bad.

Susan B

Not surprised by your reaction to Kay, but Coppola was surprised and unhappy that audiences saw her as the villain. She was the only parent who showed Anthony and Mary ongoing affection and support, as when she tried to tell Michael that Anthony was an unhappy child and he said “I don’t want to hear it.” I’m a bit surprised though that you wanted Fredo killed at the end. Coppola saw that as Michael’s bridge-too-far, the act that would destroy him. Pretending to forgive his brother, bringing him back into the family, just so he could witness his death. Here’s what Coppola has said about the two stories, Vito’s and Michael’s: Vito did everything out of love for his family, and was loved by his community; Michael did what he did for himself alone, and told himself it was for his family. Vito was surrounded by love right up until the end, because he was an affectionate if controlling parent; Michael winds up alone, having killed or pushed away everyone who loved him - including, inexplicably, the foster brother Tom who was always loyal to him. Vito, in the eyes of the filmmaker, was a builder while Michael was a destroyer.

Susan B

I noticed that too. I was watching for his reaction to that. But I think the whole sex club thing probably threw him off so much that he missed it completely.

Denise Mattsen

I agree that he should have never married her in the first place, and she knew what she was getting into (plus having an abortion like that was absolutely horrendous; don't think she would take out her other kids though, that seems like stretch to me), but I can't fault her for wanting to leave and take the kids. They've already had the house shot up once, and it will likely not be the last time. This is the Mafia we're talking about after all. Those kids should not be in danger like that and staying with Michael, they most certainly are. She's still a horrible person though. Great reaction. Can't wait for part 3!

Denise Mattsen

You missed a HUGE clue there. Johnny just said he had never met Fredo, then Fredo in the sex club said Johnny had told him about the place. Johnny knows all of the places like this. Old man Roth would never come to this place but Johnny knew them all. So Fredo spent time in Cuba with Johnny and Roth.

TigerMyth

Moe Green was one of the guys killed by Michael's order at the end of the Godfather. He was the guy shot if the eye while getting a massage.

TigerMyth

Annnd we're done! As Epic as I had hoped Sir. It's a blast to see you get involved with the characters and the story. As for "green or blue screen" etc , not at that time. All locations and sets Sir. As for Godfather 3 , I have seen the Theatrical version twice , and was not much of a fan. BUT , that was honestly , Fuck! , 30 ish years since I have seen it. LOL I have not , however , seen The Godfather Part 3 : Coda. (Re-edited and 4 min trimmed by Coppola . His "Directors Cut/vision.") Mostly curious to see what others have to say. I will be here for which ever version. Thank you sir , for another banger reaction! Peace ( I was searching some previous reactions , and I could not find Goodfellas or Casino. Was this an error on my part , or have you never seen them , or have so no point etc. Thanks : ]

Madmanmarz1981

There is a Godfather 3 but its' considered the weakest of the trilogy by the vast majority of people, I still haven't seen it but I'd check it out if you reacted to it

antbox1992

Hot fuckin damn!! Back to The Corleone Family!!! I know your going to LOVE this by the end Sir. As mentioned before , this film is a "Rare Sequel" that most feel surpasses the original. And , while I can totally see where that comes from , I still prefer Pt 1. (IMHO) Oh , tonight's dinner was Fettuccine Al FREDO. (The classic no cream way) Although I do always say a Hail Mary before starting it , and it always comes out great. This reaction will be in your Top 10 I expect. Checklist Time! Fatties rolled and ready - Check - Beer freezer cold - Check - Smokes and Zippo - Check . This is gonna be EPIC!!! Peace
