Cassandra is not the same as the lady from Dr. Strange. I understand how the baldness could be confusing, though.

I am sure everyone already answered you but Elektra is similar to Black Widow. Now super powers just a real good fighter. Blade is part Vampire. I'm from Louisiana and I agree, I could not watch a Gambit movie. Never watch The Big Easy. The clowns who made it think everyone in New Orleans talks like Gambit.

They resurrected some old supers for this one. Elektrra was a spinoff from the original Daredevil movie from 20 years ago. Blade trilogy started almost 30 years ago. Gambit is a crowd favorite character and he is speaking hard Louisiana Cajun. This movie is FULL of easter eggs to comic books and many pop culture references. Yes the scene that looked like Mad Max the game was a shoutout to the recent Mad Max movie. Even the buildings and spaceships in the background scenery are references to other movies / comics. Really interesting to encounter this one.

Cassandra nova is Cassandra nova not the ancient one from the strange movie. Our friends are not form shows, are from movies. But pre mcu movies. Since deadpool is a character that’s always been aware he’s a comic book character, he breaks the 4th wall and like wise this movie breaks the 4th wall of movie business around marvel… since fox is no more (bought by Disney in 2019 for approx $72bn), the IPs that were sold in the 90’s are reunited and thus, making all this cameo festival possible. Also Ryan Reynolds is loved by many and he could call a lot of people including Wesley that was believed to not like Reynolds in movies from the past.

2024-11-20 22:33:33 +0000 UTC
Elektra had a movie but you’d be o k with the ben affleck daredevil she was in. At least the first blade the mandatory, fox’s fantastic 4 from the 2000’s… Loki season 1… you’d be solid with these as a prep
Ricardo Catarino
2024-11-20 20:22:16 +0000 UTC
Dude… you’re missing on Loki series , pre Disney marvel (fantastic 4, blade, etc)
This was a goodbye to fox marvel and a hello (back) to mcu
(in the 90’s marvel went bankrupt and sold the rights of their most popular IPs (Spider-Man to Sony, x men and fantastic 4 to fox, blade was produced by new line cinema and hulk to universal).
You should never watch this without a minimum amount of context. It can ruin your perception and experience of this movie. Without some references, the movie is not so special.

Bro, how have you not seen Blade? You MUST watch Blade. Elektra I think there was one movie, not very good but okay for a one time watch. Elektra also had a storyline in the episodic series Daredevil portrayed by a different actress. The Daredevil series was pretty good in my opinion but there are other series that tie into it so you'd probably have to watch those too. The shows are Daredevil, Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. I have pretty much watched everything Marvel has put out and I am not mad about it.

TVA, sacred time line plus other time lines, variants, the pruning sticks, the void, Alioth, and Hunter B15 were all from Loki season one. Most of having that backstory would of explained what was happening in the movie better. Knowing the rest of the cameos wasn't important, that was just fan service. But I stand behind Loki season one (six episodes at around 30 min each) should have been viewed first.

DO BLADE TRILOGY! It's just edgy action.
Sexy people, swords guns all set to future sounding almost cyberpunkian electronic music. Chef's Kiss* 2003's Daredevil (extended cut) can be fun too. Kinda campy and silly sometimes but overall a fun watch.

Since I dont see others mentioning it, the 4 is the logo for the Fantastic 4, once of Marvel Comic's most popular teams. They had some superhero movies made in the 00s and the actor that played captain america also played one of the fantastic 4.
Elektra had her own movie after another Marvel movie called Daredevil.
Wesley Snipes has his own Marvel Trilogy of movies, he plays the character called Blade.
The other guy was a marvel movie that was in development but never came out.
These were Marvel movies before the MCU as we know today was created.

The Gambit movie was in development hell and this his first time on screen with this actor.
Blade comes from the movie Trilogy in the 2000s. Hes half vampire half human and focuses soley on killing every vampire that exists.
The Elekktra from this movie is from the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie in the 2000s but the character it present and much better developed in the Netflix TV series of the same name.

I can still fine new things in films I have seen many , many times. And you completed the Fox X-Men series as well! So I say again , Thank you for the amazing reactions! Looking forward to seeing how the "Next Phase" will have in store. Peace ( Oh , and and my own little contribution to Fun Facts/Cameos - Deadpool Corps - Ladypool - Blake Livley (Ryans wife) while their kids played Kidpool , and Babypool (And 1 other that I forget). Also , Matthew McConaughey as Western Deadpool , and Nathan Fillion as Headpool. Also , there is rumored to be an Extended Verion with deleted , etc worked back in at some point. And a bunch of Deleted scenes and alternate endings for it as well. )

A couple people added context but I figured I’d add some as well. These characters are all old marvel movie leads from the 2000’s. Blade had 3 movies. Johnny was from Fantastic Four- 2 movies. Elektra is the partner of Daredevil and had 2- relating films. The villain is not the woman from Dr. Strange they just look similar. She said she killed a magician (a version of Dr Strange) and took his ring. This movie feels different because it’s a different production studio at Disney now instead of Fox- thus the Fox logo in the void.
For more context to these events watch those listed films as well as Loki, Dr. Strange 3, and Spider-Man 3

i agree that this film feels nothing like the other recent marvel films. (thankfully!) there is apparently a LOT of crossover between wolverine and deadpool in the comics, specifically. Fun film. I hope you enjoyed it regardless of the unknown material you encountered. Great reaction as usual. very entertaining. I only get so critical because a care about the quality of the content, and you have been consistent thus far in bringing quality, enjoyable content. thank you for that.

Cassandra Nova is NOT the woman from dr. strange. just a different bald woman from the comics. i don't know if there is a canonical reason for her being bald. But she did (in this film) kill A dr. strange.
Elektra is from the film Elektra. Blade is from the films Blade (1-3), and Gambit is speaking with some kind of creole accent traditional to his comic book character. (does not have a film or show.)
many of the cameos in the void were past iterations of characters that were portrayed poorly. (Juggernaut, The chick with ademantium fingernails, Toad, Sabertooth from the first xman film...etc.)

So most of the comments have explained who Elektra, Blade, and Gambit are. One thing I will add about Gambit is his character is from Louisina. Specifically he is Cajun. Now as someone who spent time living in New Orleans, I can say this is an extremely accurate representation of the Cajun accent. Channing Tatum, who was also raise in New Orleans, nailed this role, as many of us have wanted for a decade now.

Great film with a ton of callbacks. You missed a cool behind the scenes montage of all the Fox films during the end credits.
Cassandra Nova and the Ancient One are two different characters; Cassandra really is Charles' twin and is bald in the comics. Amazing fakeout having Chris Evans play his first official Marvel role as Johnny Storm from Fox's The Fantastic Four (thus the 4) movies. Blade is from the Blade movie trilogy and Elektra is from Fox's Daredevil movie. You saw a version of Gambit in X-Men Origins; Channing Tatum had been lobbying for that role forever. Gambit is much cooler in the comics and the animated show(s).
Loki next as it sets the stage for the next slate of films/shows.

Elektra is from Daredevil. This actress (Jennifer Garner) is from the Elektra movie (2005), that came out way before the Daredevil show. Blade (Wesley Snipes) is not a show but a movie trilogy.

This movie was entirely fan service and was much appreciated in a time where things have been made "for the modern audience" (🤮lol) and that things are being watered down and real marvel fans are being ignored for slop.
Definitely understand your dislike of Deadpool and his behavior but for me but that's who Deadpool is supposed to be and I'd rather that then Disney turn him into a PG-13 snooze fest.

The characters you don't know are all from older marvel movies.
- Elektra was in the original Ben Affleck Daredevil movie in 2003
- Wesley Snipes was Blade for 3 movies from 1998-2004, which Ryan Reynolds was in and it was widely reported Snipes hated him
- Chris Evans as Human Torch is from 2005's Fantastic Four
- Gambit was in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but they portrayed him poorly, so here we got an over-the-top but comic accurate version of him played by Channing Tatum who was supposed to have a Gambit movie at some point that got canceled.
