So Tony as well as Sonny Black were whacked because Lefty and Donnie were under Sonny Black's supervision and a part of his crew so he was ultimately responsible for any of their actions. Lefty basically died of cancer and old age some time later.

I say all this because therapy is often viewed as a women's only profession. It's not strictly feelings though, and that's why any intervention method must be backed by empirical evidence in order to be considered evidence based practice. Also, keep in mind that therapists are individuals with different personalities and verifying opinions on different subjects. The scene where the therapist makes the statement to Donnie about being a "stereotype" was in my opinion largely unprofessional and he allowed his own bias to seep into the session. Sorry, for the long rant, I just wanted to give a different perspective.
