NIGHTMARE 1984 FULL REACTION

Comments

I agree. I would put 4 up there too though. The first one with Alice wasn't bad. I think it would've been better but there was a writer's strike that messed things up. It was a fun movie though.

I five probably six when this came out and I convinced my grandpa to rent it for me. I didn't sleep right for a week. Parts three and four are really good. And Wes Craven's New Nightmare was really good, and really innovative plotline.

Just noticed the teacher half an hour in is the medium in "Insidious"

I deff vote to continue this does.. each movie adds to the mythos. It would be great if every Halloween season you covered a different series.. i.e. this one, Friday the 13th, Halloween, etc..

I mean, you can say that to someone with an issue eating too much, or too little: just eat the healthy amount....

Door is closed for privacy, it's a problem if it's locked. Your Teenage kids will not only appreciate the privacy, it's key to normal independent development. Just, if it's locked it's actually a problem and most likely not something that is the kids fault.

Alejandro Guerra

I concur

Not every movie intends for you to understand, right away, how we got to this point. sometimes the narrative is revealed, over time. to accuse it, automatically, as a failure in the writing, you do yourself a disservice. Some movies do, in fact have oversights, but you should give them the benefit of the doubt. Consider that there is a key rule or element that you don't know yet, and look for clues. Consider the established lore and look for your answers, rather than break all immersion (something you complain about, if the movie itself does), maybe there's just something you haven't figured out yet or has yet to be revealed.

this was cheesy! way more than i remember. but it was soo much fun! thanks for this one!

I am glad I lost my bet. Sequels are doomed to be worse than the original, and as has already been pointed out, but this is the best series I've ever seen. I say go for it. It's just too creative as they go on (warning: yes, the 2nd one is the worse of them :))

PIG

I really hope you take the plunge and react to an Indian movie one day. I have so many recommendations for you

Billy

Sir you will NOT like the second movie. If you’re interested in diving deeper I’d suggest number 3 Dream Warriors (1987) and New Nightmare(1994) the rest of these movies are mediocre to straight up bad

Isaac

Simple explanation for bad lighting or color grading on many scenes in movies. Dream sequence or flashback

David Melo

The producer, Bob Shaye, wanted a "shocking" ending so we all got a version that makes no sense but leads to sequels. Wes Craven just wanted a happy ending.

JM

I'm a longtime fan of the franchise. If you decide to watch any of the sequels, the popular fan favorite is Part 3: Dream Warriors. "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" is great as well and very 'meta'. These particular sequels have Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) in them. So that is a common thread the other sequels don't have, and some others are admittedly weaker entries if I'm looking at them objectively.

And we're done! Wonderful reaction Sir!!! I am so glad you had a good time watching it , getting into the story and characters. 80's horror ,for me , was an amazing time to be a fan! I was a wee lad of 13 when I saw this at the theater. By then , thanks to cable and VHS , I had seen a ton of stuff I probably should not have. lol As for going on with the series...I would vote no. There are tons of horror from the 80's that would be much better IMO. Single films , others Slashers , Italian Horror , (Suspiria 1977 PLEASE!!!) , even a few like Fright Night , or Creepshow would be amazing. The 80's were a great time to be a Horror Fan , I am glad I was there , and I am glad to be here watching your Reaction Sir. Thanks Peace

Hot Damn!! You chose 1 of my 31 Days Of Horror movies Sir! TY. Every year , (for over 30 yrs for sure) I watch at least 1 horror film a day during October. It's a thing me and 1 or 2 old friends still do every year , even though we're all in different states. And this being the 40th Ann. of the film , it was on my list. I saw it at a midnight screening at Litchfield Cinemas in 1984 in Chattanooga TN. It was fresh , new , and scary. We (Horror Fans) were not expecting anything like Freddy Kruger. I am looking forward to your reaction to this on in a big way. (And just to say , of all the series , I only like 1 , and Wes Cravens New Nightmare for reasons not to go into here at this time. I did enjoy some things about the re-make as well.) Young Johnny Depp is a blast! LOVE the hair! (21 Elm Street!!LMAO) Loads of cool horror trivia around this one as well. Checklist Time - Edibles workin - Check - Fatty rolled - Check - Cold Beer - Check - A Mr. Coffee , and caffeine pills - Check - Improvised mines and tripwires set - Check Ok ," Screw your pass!" Let the Horror Begin! Peace

Loved it! This movie scared me as a kid, the nursery rhyme still bothers me some...lol Try The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Blair Witch Project , American Werewolf in London, Carrie 1976, The Others, and a often overlooked film Ghost Story (1981) with Fred Astaire, Melvyn Douglas, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., and John Houseman.

Angie

I forgot John Saxon the martial arts dude that helped Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon was in this one lol

My guess is that you’re not going to like this so much. That’s my bet and I hope I lose. Will find out tomorrow!
