2024-06-04 04:18:37 +0000 UTCLong ago and far away, I was hooked on a television series - Hill Street Blues. I mean *hooked*. This was way back probably before many of you were born. HSB had a big regular cast and mostly unknown guest actors, and one story line that particularly caught my attention was that of a serial killer with multiple personality disorder. I didn't recognize the actor but he was amazing - you couldn't take your eyes off him. I didn't even catch his name. and I pretty much forgot about him because I never saw him again - until over thirty years later when he showed up as the character Mike in Breaking Bad. And I recognized him instantly, after all that time.

2024-05-29 15:18:27 +0000 UTCThey’re filming cold/blue-toned anytime it’s a scene in the past — you’ll notice that with Jimmy scenes from the past too. May not like it but that’s the point of it, so you could tell it’s a scene from the past. Past = blue, present = normal, future = black and white on this show. Oh and yellow = Mexico 😂 feminine products / pads do not have numbing product in it… I wish, lol . I think he’s just sighing with relief from having clean, soft padding up against his wound once he takes off the used one. Also: is the Breaking Bad discussion with your wife coming out still? Would love to hear it 🙏

2024-05-29 11:32:32 +0000 UTCI think its a testament to the writing in breaking bad that even the side characters can generate so much investment in their story arcs and backgrounds. As if THEY are the main character. Not even just 1 side character as well, the majority of the side characters! They are also unique and fleshed out.

2024-05-29 08:14:28 +0000 UTCAlso I was cracking up at "she will be remarried within 3 years " and then a few minutes later " 2 years." And then a little after that it went down to "6 months " 🤣🤣

2024-05-29 07:44:27 +0000 UTCThis is one of the rare shows that actually gets better with every season . I agree on some of the characters being dislikable on the first season. It's also kind of a slow burn. But it really does get going. And each season will continue to be better than the last.

2024-05-29 07:42:56 +0000 UTCThe blueish hue looks it’s worst in the daytime and for that long of a scene. I do like the nostalgic vibe it gives off though in some of the other flashbacks

2024-05-29 06:26:20 +0000 UTCYea Karen Kettleman is about as annoying as it gets lol. She has to have a guy like Craig that she can run all over. Saul and Mike definitely have an interesting relationship. Saul can't get the office now bc he gave back all the money they gave him. That's why the deal will work. Now he has to go back to the Salon for the time being.

2024-05-29 06:04:51 +0000 UTCIn the transition from Mike walking to his car back to Philly, I think the hum of the pawn shop lights in Philadelphia Eagles green might be a deliberate choice too.

2024-05-29 05:27:59 +0000 UTCAnd he suggested black-and-white for flashbacks, but B&W has its own deliberate meaning throughout the series

2024-05-29 05:14:31 +0000 UTCThe films that are “colored terrible” are purposely colored that way to indicate you are watching a flashback

2024-05-29 04:52:59 +0000 UTCOk just finished the first episode and as a father this one always cuts deep. Mike is definitely a gray character. He wanted to be a cop and a good guy but bc of the precinct he worked at he ended up in the shit. Then after losing his son he lost all hope. These 2 are all he has left in the world. Now you see what I mean when I say this show is just as good as BB but it's a much slower burn.

2024-05-29 04:43:26 +0000 UTCMike's backstory with his son makes you rethink about his relationship with Jesse. He was a father figure to Jesse. Phenomenal acting by Jonathan Banks (Mike) in this episode.

2024-05-29 04:25:50 +0000 UTCThe reason Mike was so relived is bc that bandage had been on there for a while and had really sealed to the wound. Once he yanked that off I think was just a relief to not have that pulling and grinding on his wound.

2024-05-29 03:52:29 +0000 UTCA bluish color in BCS indicates a flashback scene. It was the same color for the flashback scene between Jimmy and Chuck after Jimmy was arrested.
