ARRIVAL FULL REACTION

Comments

bro i promise no one cares mate

alexmiller

Also I'm a little disappointed at the end you didn't give your take on what you thought of the movie, outside the teal and orange.

Matthew Langley

So I think her choosing to still have that child that was doomed to die young was actually extremely selfless. The child gets to live and she only knows the full life she has, she doesn't know what she's missing, she got enjoyment while she lived. While the mother and father have to live the rest of their lives with that sadness and memory of her gone and what could have been. I instead think choosing to not have that child is the selfish choice, to protect yourself instead of sacrificing your own piece of mind to give this child the life it could have to it's fullest, whatever that may be.

Matthew Langley

I think he was still there for the kid - still loved her and wanted to spend time with her, while avoiding his ex who in his mind could have prevented a lot of pain. We had that one scene where the daughter seems to ask after the recent divorce if the mom will leave her as well - and she makes sure to point out that he didn't leave the daughter and that she'd be going to spend time with him soon. I think it's a bit wrong/selfish as well to knowingly bring a child into the world that will die early. It's especially wrong that she didn't tell him so he could make an informed decision himself, since even though he loves his daughter - he thinks it would've been better to not conceive said child and go through that pain (or maybe even see the child go through any potential suffering as they passed).

Lisa Borth

One of my favorites. I'm sorry to say that I cannot afford to continue my subscription. this will probably be my last video to watch with you for a while. thanks for the great reactions! I'll keep up with you on youtube!

William Clark

Better Call Saul today!!!

Nate

55:18 Agreed, while I dabble a bit in what makes a language, the character she plays blew my mind. I also always wonder, how would this movie be different, if she tried communicating with them in a different language. English is very ambigous and contextual.

Michal Kubán

I didn't mean magical in the literal sense but the metaphorical one. Sorry for any confusion.

Slimsycentaur37

At least apple stores have the lights on! 🤣

Teth

What? 😂 She's not "magical", it's the alien language that does that. The thesis of the movie is that language shapes our thought patters and how our brains work. By learning the alien non-linear language, she starts to function that way, too. It would be the same for anyone. You guys are acting like there are strong female protagonists hiding in your cupboards.

Teth

Love to see you react to Blade Runner 2049 (Perhaps Blade Runner, first the Final Cut)

Derek Leach

Some people do call it the "Apple Store" vibe.

David Melo

Interesting perspective. It might just be that his style really resonates with me. Which ones did you think were duds?

David Melo

I think I have watched it before, I must have suppressed the memories. Like you said the twist at the end is forced. The moment we got to it, I turned it off😑

gak9319

It came out 2016, the beginning of the age of the girlboss😮‍💨

gak9319

What, do you want them to make the sky and water red?

Dallas Darnell

I'm personally not a fan of Villeneuve's lifeless visual expression and insistence on filming everything in black and white, (HATE it in Dune,) but I guess it fits the tone this movie. I'm not convinced it wouldn't have looked better in colour, but sure.

Teth

And they touched down in Montana so they can get that ship registered and get their plates without any sales tax, obviously 😂

Slimsycentaur37

I give all his films a chance since he's definitely a passionate and excellent master of his craft but I feel he's 50/50 on his movies with a lot of duds lately.

Slimsycentaur37

Ok I watched it with you again and my god the protagonist is a selfish selfish horrible person. My opinion remains the same. I rated this a 4 out of 10 and in 50 years a 3 out of 10.

Slimsycentaur37

As a side note, I can't let the opportunity pass without plugging The Expanse once more time. Since you love "big brain energy", Crisjen Avasarala will give you all that and more. I know it didn't win the poll so we won't see it on Patreon, but do yourself a favour and watch it at home. It's an intelligent sci-fi show with almost no filler episodes and they don't dumb stuff down for the audience - if there is something you don't understand, you better google it quick because they are not waiting for you to catch up.

Jua

Watching your head explode when you process the twist made it so worth re-watching the movie for the 87th :) time. Awesome reaction and eagerly awaiting your next one.

Jua

OMG I CANT WAIT TO WATCH

Maxim Tandt

this was the most pleasant mindfuck i've ever encountered. better than i expected in the beginning. nice twist.

Mister_Bleak

I never watch trailers either. They literally just spoil stuff. Especially for t.v. show's. I know the boys season 4 and house of dragon season 2 both come out next month but I didn't watch trailor's. I'd rather just not know what is gonna happen and watch it on the show.

JBlaze24

Frustrating film with a forced twist which I feel the director just made the movie just to do it. "Magical Lady" protagonist. stupid male characters throughout. Hard pass

Slimsycentaur37

BTW, this is your second film directed by Denis Villeneuve, the other was Sicario. One of the best directors right now in my humble opinion. Some of his other bangers: Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049 (sequel to Blade Runner), and Dune 2021 (1&2)

David Melo

I love this movie. It’s thought-provoking, moving, and the twist reveal is brilliant. Also, you need to go on Jeopardy with the amount of random trivia you know.

redhawk

seen this movie 30 times and i just had to watch it again with you. love watching this movie everytime it comes on same with annihilation. you gotta check that movie out now

dawn

My theory is that there is a Pre-Exploration and Post-Exploration rule to space visits. We haven't gone to any other planets yet, but we've sent Rovers and are planning Mars visits... they're monitoring us. That's why the military has detected them recently... They're watching us. And also... Octopuses are aliens, and we eat them.

Scott Asher

Without language spoken or otherwise cooperation would be impossible. Even animals have a type of language.😅

gak9319

Good movie :D, can't wait to rewatch it.

EndlessRiver

Bro rabbit proof fence is one of the movies we watched in school growing up in Australia. Very sad movie

Reece Vando

Montana: First Contact between Humans and Vulcans. Montana & North Dakota are home to the most nuclear missile silos the US has.

David Melo

Some say mathematics is the language of god

Reece Vando

Wind River was great!

Scott Asher

Alyssa Dyson
