2024-06-12 13:34:12 +0000 UTCIf ´´devil´´ himself doesnt bother come unto this girl, how come ´´God´´´bothers give this case any attention? If Lucifer wont bother.... yes yes God loves all hes children but did u know that Lucifer was hes child too and look what ´´God´´did with Lucifer. If bibical god can be so petty towards any Lucifer attempts why should god give a damn tryina pull him out of hes, hers, its slumber on this case??? Hmmmm?

2024-06-12 13:24:06 +0000 UTCThis movie pretty much defined whole conjuring\exorcism movie continuum. Funny fact: That 1 dude who was taking care of posessed girl in hospital, is it male nurse or something turned to be real life serial killer. And there are some other creepy facts surrounding this movie.

2024-06-12 12:42:26 +0000 UTCEllen Bursten who okayed the mother has spoken about bizarre and disturbing things that happened on this film set. Author William Peter Blatty did a ton of research into alleged possessions, and based the book on a contemporary tale of a boy in the United States who received one of the few modern-day Catholic exorcisms. In the 1970s the book and this movie had people getting therapy. Seriously. For its time is was terrifying. For me, the most compelling story here is Father Karras’ crisis of belief. I love his character. At one point the demon tells him that an exorcism “will bring us together.” In the end, it momentarily does. Karras takes on the possession, is tempted to strangle Ragan, and sacrifices himself by jumping through the window to his death.

2024-05-02 00:48:17 +0000 UTCThe detective was tossing out ridiculous names when asked who starred in the various movies. It was his joke.

2024-05-02 00:38:03 +0000 UTCDid anyone else think the demon face that flashed on screen periodically look like a sort of reverse-image of Karras?

2024-05-01 22:31:05 +0000 UTCWe all smoked back then. At my first job out of college in 1977 everybody was provided with an office ashtray.

2024-05-01 21:38:27 +0000 UTCA total brain fart from me since it could not be farther off topic, but have you watched O Brother Where Art Thou? Hilarious and you will be the only reactor who appreciates that it’s a modern take on Homer’s Odyssey.
Susan B
2024-05-01 21:08:35 +0000 UTCA perfectly crafted film and still so terrifying that I can neither read the book or watch the film at night.

2024-04-29 00:00:40 +0000 UTCSo many great older movies, I hope he starts venturing out. He's enjoyed Kubrick films, so maybe 2001 A Space Odyssey or A Clockwork Orange. I'm not sure if he would tolerate black and white movies but Dr. Strangelove is a 10/10.

2024-04-25 19:19:00 +0000 UTCI believe the priest is talking about the Dominican Order of the Catholic Church. I think he’s from the Jesuit order. “The Dominican Order and the Jesuit Order are both Catholic religious orders with different rules of life, charisms, and spiritualities. The Dominicans are also known as the Order of Preachers, while the Jesuits are also known as the Society of Jesus. The Dominicans focus on educating the faith and preaching the Gospel, while the Jesuits are known for their opposition to Protestantism and missionary work. “

2024-04-24 06:40:55 +0000 UTCThank you for saying that about the mental health stuff. I suffer from PTSD from Army stuff and depression I'm on meds and see a therapist weekly. I hate when people say they have depression, anxiety or are "OCD". I'm like no your not. Your sad or nervous or organized lol. Real depression comes with physical symptoms. Not just "I'm sad" lol.

2024-04-24 03:36:16 +0000 UTCYea bro, in 1972 people smoked in hospitals, schools, restaurants and dam neat anywhere. Even planes lol. I was born in 82 and I remember being around cigg smoke a lot. The public didn't know about the harmful effects of 2nd hand smoke until the late 80s. Then you went through a period of people denying it and still doing it anyway. Now you gotta go to Mars to smoke lol.

2024-04-24 03:23:49 +0000 UTC"Rats have wings and they flap" 😂🤣😅 Idk why but that made me spit my beet out lol. Then I thought..................Bats????

2024-04-24 00:39:34 +0000 UTCRegarding that scene where the priest's mother ends up in the mental hospital. There a quick dialog that kind of addresses how she got there. The mother's brother tells the priest that the mother had some sort of medical incident and the brother brought her to the hospital. It's quick and apparently it didn't register with you, but there is some context (though a little vague) as to how she ended up there. Also, The "Dominicans" in this context are a type of Catholic priest, not anyone from The Dominican Republic if that helps it be a little less offensive.

2024-04-23 23:54:21 +0000 UTCEven as a kid this one never scared me. This was more gross out than spooky to me. The conjuring....yeah, that one got me..... not quite as bad as our friend MrLBoyd. I feared for his health.

2024-04-23 18:24:56 +0000 UTCThat line about exorcisms not happening anymore isn't true. I went to a Jesuit high school and the Latin teacher was one for the few priest who could perform an exorcism. I recall an article in the paper about him so yeah, even late 80s they had priest who could perform an exorcism.
TigerMyth
2024-04-23 17:46:52 +0000 UTCYou are watching the director's cut. I've never seen that one and not sure how it differs. I know the scene with the kid running down the stairs bent over backwards spitting blood was not in the theatrical release.

2024-04-23 16:47:33 +0000 UTCYou recognise Max von Sydow' voice? Esbern the old Blade in Skyrim🙂 You might also recognise him as the Three Eyed Raven in GOT😁

2024-04-23 11:11:42 +0000 UTCJust want to say before I even start the reaction , I am so jazzed!! This is a total classic film. Damn near perfect IMHO. I am a big fan of both the book and film , and have been since I first saw it.(About age 12. 54 now) I even have a stone replica of the Pazuzu head Father Merrin finds at the dig in the opening. Yep , big old nerd here. Oh , an also , the film opened on December 26 , 1973 , and is also a "Cursed" film , as weird things happened , etc. The same was true of The Omen in 1976 , and before in Rosemary's Baby in 1968 , and others. Neato sub-subject about horror films to look into. Peace and Thanks.

2024-04-23 09:31:05 +0000 UTCFor film and camera stuff , I would say Sinister.(1st one only). The film as a whole , but the "home movies" would be killer ta hear/see his reaction.

2024-04-23 06:22:01 +0000 UTCAlso, I love that you nerd out about the filming and cameras because I know NOTHING about any of that and I enjoy hearing what goes into it. Another note: I literally went to nursing school so my parents wouldn't ever have to go into a home. I finally graduate in like two weeks!

2024-04-23 05:51:53 +0000 UTCWas hoping for guardians of the galaxy but all good this is still a classic lol. Would love for you to react to the insidious movies please!!! Atleast the first one since we are exploring the horror genre!! Plus those movies are a perfect medium between this & the conjuring.
