Hank was dirty in that diner. He knows that if Walt goes to jail, the house and all of their assets will be seized. Skylar will have 2 kids, no money and no house of their own. The one time I liked Skylar. She realized Hank was not looking out for her in any way.

Also, I agree with you that Hank has always been zealous to slap the cuffs on the great Heisenberg, but given that the man who's been evading him all this time is his own brother-in-law, and knowing all the grimey shit Walt did to manipulate everyone, including Hank himself, I think it's completely understandable why Hank is taking this so personally. It's a betrayal, most foul. I'm not saying he's justified cause he should hold himself to highest possible standard, but man... I get the compulsion.
