KILL BILL 1 FULL REACTION

Rewatching your reaction to this one. It always crack me up when you think it only hurts when you get kicked in the nuts. Like there aren't a thousand other places on the body were it hurts getting kicked with force. Why wouldn't the female crotch be one of them lmao.

2024-12-27 20:27:11 +0000 UTCFYI: The long Crazy 88 fight scene was switched to black & white as a concussion to the MPAA to get the R rating.

2024-03-04 02:29:06 +0000 UTCAs a woman who hasn't necesarily been kicked there, but has had a decently strong impact, it hurts a LOT, I'm assuming it doesn't compare to a man seeing as we don't have the same equipment but it certainly knocked the wind out of me

2024-03-04 01:44:28 +0000 UTCIt went to black and white to avoid the NC-17 rating which was a killer for movies. I think the print outside the US did not drop to B&W.

2024-03-03 03:11:48 +0000 UTCI love how he went from not knowing he would ever want a sword to wanting one and realizing he can carry in GA. lol.

2024-03-03 02:38:46 +0000 UTCSomething i figured you would catch was that O'ren says that she doubts the fight will last 5 minutes, and from that point to the slice is exactly 4 minutes and 59 seconds if i remember correctly

2024-03-03 00:16:09 +0000 UTCYeah, for people who've never directly experienced central Europe, 'Caucasian' just means 'White People'.

2024-03-02 11:41:07 +0000 UTCKatanas run the gamut of prices. From $150 'Mall Katanas' made from polished cast steel with 'rat-tail' tangs made from mild-steel threaded bar-stock welded to the end, to properly forged steel swords using modern means to emulate the traditional style running $1,500-2,000, to proper old-school swords from original Japanese masters in the ludicrous price range. And that 'Sound Effect' you recognize but don't know from where originally comes from the 1970's 'Blaxploitation' genre of films that Tarantino was greatly influenced by.

2024-03-02 09:41:29 +0000 UTCI believe the fight scene against O Ren's army was black and white too get passed the censors and not have an nc17 rating. Just too bloody and violent. There is an unrated version of the film where it stays in color.

2024-03-02 07:54:36 +0000 UTCLove it! One of my all time favorites. This movie feels like a live action Anime, that was done, in my opinion, about as well as possible.

2024-03-02 03:29:50 +0000 UTCYou know... I would've agreed with you. Never a fan particularly, , But then I saw Interstellar, on this channel as a matter of fact, and as I was learning to understand spacetime in a different way, and bawling through the last ten min, I thought I should reevaluate... So I did, I have to tall you. Oppenheimer. Brilliant. Inception. Mind-blowing. Memento. Insane. I find that at his Best Nolan changes the way I think and understand life. That's art right? Gives you a visceral response, makes you ask questions, even if you don't like it. His movies make my brain hurt, and aren't always good until a second or third watch through. The Prestige! And The Dark Night. You don't get Heath Leger's Joker without a driving force behind the performance. And, because you didn't ask, HA! but just to put it out there for discussion... My top directors are: 1. Tarantino 2. Scorsese 3. Spielberg 4. Nolan 5. Villeneuve (Kurosowa if I'm sad)

2024-03-01 19:26:02 +0000 UTCBtw, this is an excellent example of a film based around strong female characters. They're much more "realistic" and grounded in the way they progress in the story and interact with those around them. The main protagonist and antagonistic characters utilize their intelligence, training, discipline, and mastery of tools and weapons to overcome their adversaries, not just flat out physically overpower or use brute strength. Men in this film are not dumbed down or weak just to empower the females and make a fantastical unrealistic betrayal of strong women that honestly is overdone.

2024-03-01 17:18:38 +0000 UTCCompared to that hack Nolan who just uses whatever is the newest and most expensive technology. He's like an a.i. director I swear

2024-03-01 17:08:59 +0000 UTCIn reality most samurai swords take around 18 months to make.

2024-03-01 16:59:04 +0000 UTCMan look, it's Tarantino. You're getting feet. There's no way around it, the man has a fetish for them. Can't wait to see how you react to Volume 2

2024-03-01 11:50:58 +0000 UTCDamn it... P.P.S. The story was thought up by Quentin and Uma(Q + U) on the set of Pulp Fiction. As for it being an art piece... You're right. Tarantino is neurodivergent, in past may've been called a savant. But he was raised by movies, and worked his dream job, a video store for years. He's got this crazy encyclopedic knowledge of filmmaking. And EVERYthing he does is intentional, either an homage, his take on genre films... or an offshoot of his love of movies.. He may use certain lenses from some cult Italian movie, from the 60's because he wants the scene to feeeel a certain way, or stop production for a week, to have some out of stock, out of production, lighting stand found, that was used in his favorite gangster movie of 1971. Etc, etc, ad infinitum. I'd say it was stupid, but look at the results he gets. Tarantino is easily top 3 greatest directors all time for me. Depending on the day, number one.

2024-03-01 09:57:30 +0000 UTCP.S. The gentleman that plays Hattori Hanzo is Sonny Chiba, one of the greatest Japanese action stars ever. Samurai, hardboiled cop, assassin. Also one of the first actors to be a real martial artist. Ended up having 6-7 black belts. One of the all time greats. You should check out The Streetfighter, or Hunter in the Dark, if you're into that.

Nick
2024-03-01 08:29:25 +0000 UTCDude, I'm so happy you're doing this... THESE movies. Together I think 1 + 2 make one of my all time top tens. You'll see once you watch the second. All one story. As for the macro shots, they were all done practically, but the gun isn't a gun, you can tell, because the "bullet" isn't spinning. It's a large propane cannon, in slow mo. As for the actual nuts and bolts. Here's a link to a super dope read, that is literally the cinematographer Robert Richardson talking about how they shot Kill Bill 1 and 2(which they shot back to back). This was his first Collab with Tarantino, but he's done every one of his movies since, including Django, which is... A masterpiece? Hard to watch? Both. He was Oscar nominated for Ingorious, Django, Hateful 8, and Once Upon a Time... No wins, with QT, but no worries, he already had three Oscars from working with Scorsese and Oliver stone. https://theasc.com/articles/kill-bill-a-bride-vows-revenge

2024-03-01 06:38:57 +0000 UTC"bortaS bIr jablu'DI' reH QaQqu' nay" - Old Klingon proverb... I feel a unique mixture of pride and shame for knowing this. Also- "Choreographed Karate Kerfuffle" sounds like a killer indie band name. Or maybe a synthwave album. ALSO, also- I've noticed that the enlightend intersectionalists have taken to calling us "people of color" in the past few years, and somehow that's meant to have an entirely different connotation than "colored peope". Semantically identical, but somehow different... It's dumb as hell, and I don't recall anyone consulting me on the matter. That's identity politics for you, I reckon.
