Tami Hart

Loved writing with fountain pens. Always had ink stains on my fingers.

Susan B

You are an extremely well traveled and well educated reactor, which is why I subscribe to your content. I am baffled that you do not know what a fountain pen is. Do you have a PO Box? I want to send you a Mont Blanc and change your whole world. Well maybe not a Mont Blanc, I'll keep that to myself. A Lamy perhaps?

William Clark

Had a great time watching with you Sir. Another banger.

Madmanmarz1981

Please watch the hateful eight! Same cinematographer, also a tarantino film. it's amazing

Jake

Quinten had everyone on board to make this movie but he was nearly about to cancel because he couldn't find the right actor for the german SS guy... then he found him and he decided to make the movie.

Preferred User

Btw: most awesome "film nerd" reaction I've seen to this movie yet! Bless you, sir! 😁

Jessi

Speaking of America in WW2 in terms of their unwillingness to join in....remember, this was the "official" position...many many Americans longed to join the fight! But, as for those who didnt.. I think it's the darkest side of American exceptionalism and individualism. It tends to "other" anyone outside of your own experience. Ie: it was Europe's war and therefore Europe's problem. (Wrong and reprehensible, but there you go?)

Jessi

Outstanding bro. One of my favorites as well. Every single scene is mandatory. Not one bit of filler. The Bear Jew beating that guy to death is such an iconic scene. Then the way that other guy points to that map so fast hahahaha. And yes, all of us laughed that hard at Brad speaking Italian with that crazy accent lol. I really hope you get to Django pretty soon.

Drewcliff82

I was excited to watch this one. One of my all time favorites, especially when Brad Pitt speaks Italian. Glad that you enjoyed it, can't wait for the next Tarantino film!

Billybob350

"Get the foot off the screen, bro." Unpossible, it's a Tarantino film.

Molly McAllister

I had new family of squirrel's move in my back yard that started wreaking havoc on my house. They were chewing the steel cables that support the powerline running to my house and made holes in all the screens on the windows. They chewed halfway through the steel cable and still waiting on the power company to come fix it. Apparently they do that to sharpen teeth and cause alot of house fires every year. I had to go buy a shotgun just stop to them. I would get one then next day another would be back chewing cable. I got 8 in 2 weeks and haven't had any problems since. It was ridiculous.

JBlaze24

I hate to say it but you know even less about milk than you know about fountain pens… which is virtually nothing

Tron

With all the facts and trivia Mr LBoyd knows, somehow he’s baffled by a fountain pen 😂

Tron

If you liked this one and haven’t seen it yet you gotta check out “Django Unchained” it’s a newer terintino film. Filmed amazingly and great story. Stars Jamie Fox and Hans ( the Jew hunter) but it’s crazy how different his character is in Django. Shows how great of an actor he is.

Kyle Komperda

Sauerkraut isnt pickled, its fermented like Kimchi. Its actually really good for you.

Alyssa Dyson

I am SO glad you watched this. Definitely one of my favorites. "Ah-Riever- Dare-Chi"

Mister_Bleak

Apologies if you want to keep the comments on topic, I just find it easier to communicate via the comments here as opposed to YouTube. Anyway, I’d love to know your opinion on something. I just watched your Upchurch apology video from a couple years ago. (Watching all your stuff from before I found you during your ERB coverage), and in this video you mentioned that if country music attempts to appeal to a larger audience, it would dilute the genre. I absolutely agree, but it makes me wonder. How do you think hip hop may have evolved by now and what would it sound like if Eminem never opened those doors to other cultures. He opened them for more than white rappers, as you’ve said. He got several cultures into the game. I’m curious as to how you think it would sound without that dilution

David Nettles

1:48:50 he wanted to say well played so badly but couldn't because that guy is such a scum bag. Love it.

Nicholas Johnson

And just had to add this... Are Tarantino films for film nerds? Yes. Because Tarantino himself is a Colossal film nerd.

Molly McAllister

Robert Richardson is the cinematographer. 3x Academy Award Winner and 7x nominee. You've reacted to a few of his films: Wall Street, Shutter Island, World War Z. He's worked with Tarantino on 6 of his 9 films. He is also the DP for the new Equalizer movie.

Scott Asher

There is nothing wrong with laughing, there is always some comedy In Tarantino's movies😃

gak9319

The guy sitting at the piano is Winston Churchill😄

gak9319

Kill Bill 1 and 2, Django Unchained, Hateful Eight, and Once upon a time in Hollywood next!

Joseph Miley

The two main types of pens used by German clerks and officials in WWII were fountain pens and dip pens. Source: https://intrenches.com/wartime-nibs.htm EDIT: What's interesting is, that ballpoint pen was invented in 1888, but success came after the WW2.

Michal Kubán

GrEat movie you need to check out The Hunt for Red October

Lonnie Vannatter

I just wanted to put in the early beginning about the pen that they do still have pens like that called they are aptly named "dip pens" lol. They are mainly used for calligraphy and the like.

Ralordris

What you call 'errors' due to your professional experience, people who grew-up on old cheaply done movies (like Tarantino) call 'Normal'... 'Classic' even. Would not surprise me if it was done deliberately.

Molly McAllister

He didn't say 'Engine', he said 'Injun', an old, old, ooooold quasi-slur/coloquialism for Indian/Native-American. And you're not crazy, the world is crazy. In WWII Hitler actually asked all the other developed nations of the west, Europe, America, etc... to take the Jews off his hands, they refused. They didn't want the Jews any more than he did (Nazi Ideology in many parts was cribbed from American segregationist ideals) but then he took their own ideas to their ultimate, logical conclusion and it embarrassed the rest of the world... that's my take on why everyone, after the fact, was so up-in-arms over what Nazi Germany was doing to the Jews.

Molly McAllister

That type of pen is called a fountain pen. Sometimes they have the button, sometimes it's a lever, sometimes the lever doubles as a clip for holding the pen in your pocket. Landa has absolutely no reason to have such elaborate writing equipment on his person for field-use. No practical reason. He's doing this, which he should normally only be doing at his personal office, in Monsieur LaPadite's home... his domicile... his sanctuary... his Safe Space... as means of unsettling him as part of his overall interrogation strategy (and Sadism). Also, that style of pipe is called a Calabash. It is outlandish, ridiculously so in this context. Again, deliberate choice as part and parcel of his intimidation strategy.

Molly McAllister

The opening scene is probably my favourite of the whole movie, not the killing part but the part before. Just the tension and the acting is incredible. I love Christoph Waltz. Django Unchained is also an amazing movie and sees Waltz play an almost opposite role.

EndlessRiver

Also try antique pen or fountain pen and inkwell in your search lol

Alyssa Dyson

The tension in most these scenes is insane. This movie is one of my favorites of his.

Alyssa Dyson

I just sent my first donation request! I’m new to it, so it took a while 😂🤦🏻‍♂️. Once my taxes come in I’m doing one for a movie you’ll absolutely love

David Nettles

Yasss one of my all time favourite films! Christoph Waltz is so good as Hans Landa it’s crazy! THATS A BINGO 🤣🤣 The cinema scene when shosanna starts speaking always gives me shivers. Top tier movie and probably my joint top Tarantino movie alongside “From Dusk till dawn’ really hope that’s on your list too 😍 well Tarantino didn’t direct it but he was in the movie with George clooney, and done the screenplay, sorry for the random info dump there, just love that movie too 🤣

Ciaran Boag

Another primo choice my dude.

D Montano

I've said the same thing. But idk if this man will be ready! Lol

Dustin Puhalski

This movie truly doesn’t get the credit it deserves, but I guess that’s Tarantino’s discography for ya

Isaac

U gotta see Django if u havent

Marquis keel

Also, if you need a silly palate clenser... How about Black Dynamite??

Mike MIchelsen

The fire scene was all done practically, on a special set created to burn and collapse. That finale came within about 10 seconds of killing a lot of people.

Mike MIchelsen

100% what I came here to say. Kill Bill 1 and 2 are amazing. And Django is like nothing I've ever seen before or since. I would also add Jackie Brown to this list. Little Pam Grier for that ass. Tarantino is a master. And EVERYthing is on purpose. Every shot, every lens. He is also neurodivergent, walking library of cinema.

Mike MIchelsen

ok sweet, i guess you do read these then lol. The kind of directors like this prefer doing things in camera though. Tarantino sneaks in a few of these shots in each of his films. Reservoir Dogs & Pulp Fiction had some, but I don't recall you noticing them. Hopefully when you get around to more Tarantino and notice them, your mind wont jump straight to fake & impossible. BTW, great reaction as always, glad you enjoyed it. When he says "this might just be my masterpiece" right at the end, I'm glad you interpreted that as Tarantino speaking about the film. Most Tarantino fans feel that way also. I'm looking forward to seeing you react to the rest of his stuff. Django Unchained, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill 1 & 2, The Hateful Eight

David Melo

When you said it last time I was thinking regular old split diopter with one side of the circular filter blurring out half the image or the split diopters that only allow a single point in the center of the lens to be in focus.. you’re talking about the split field/focus diopter that cheats depth. lol didn’t think they still used those.. but I guess if they are using 19th century petzval lenses and Cooke optic lens together they also probably had the budget to spring for the split field diopters. I would’ve just shot multiple takes at different focal planes and split frames in post.

Lenear Boyd

Kill bill volume 1, kill bill volume 2, and Django unchained

Slimsycentaur37

Which ones?

Lenear Boyd

Damn this movie was great. So glad I decided to actually give it a shot this time.

dawn

Yeah they gave him a large budget and perfection happens. It's arguably his top film along with 3 others

Slimsycentaur37

lol, now i know you don't read the comments. been trying to tell you about how these "impossible shots" with two focal planes are actually done with a special lens. a split diopter lens. Please, whoever is checking the comments for him, please let Mr. LBoyd know about this technique. for the love of god. This effect is all in camera. Its a special lens split down the middle. Many of the great directors use this for great effect and my dude here is thinking there some trickery happening.

David Melo

No wayyyy my guy, you're not missin lately! lets go

Brandon W

😂😂😂 Mannnnnnnnnnn I grew up around cows. Hand milked straight into a glass as a kid and never hesitated to turn it up. Folks cry about processed foods but scared of fresh milk 🥛. I’ve also churned fresh butter 😂. Pus is a byproduct of infection 😂😂😂😂

LumpyGrits

If someone asked me to make a shortlist of perfect films, Inglorious Basterds makes the list- no question. I've still never felt more tension and dread sitting in a theatre than I did during the first scene. Starts out STRONG, stays there, then finished even stronger. 12/10. Let's watch another Tarantino soon, bro!

Jake Martin

Lessssgoooo!!!

Slimsycentaur37

Oh man lol. Remeber, it's never a good idea to have a gunfight in a basement.
