I guess I need to amend that. Looks like they are trying to bring even more toxic masculinity memes into the show. Hughie is just another toxic male on V. That might be what they had him say but I still choose to believe that is was more about saving Starlight at any cost. I'm sticking with it, even if the writers aren't.

His last GF exploded in front of him. Homelander will do the same to Starlight if he isn't killed so Hughie is willing to do anything to keep her alive. He is actually being 100% selfless. Maybe 99% because he does enjoy not being afraid.
