THE MARTIAN FULL REACTION

Comments

Wow! What a great reaction Mr.! I know you'll poke more holes in it's plausibility, but please do Passengers! I'd love to see your take on the cinematography and of course the fictional story.

bikeymoy

Huh? I don't think you understood...

Jessi

Yeah? Feminist type sht is only extra in this extended edition, really? Thank you, but no thank you!

VitaminPete616

I'm glad you watched the extended edition! Which I didn't know existed until now! (And, since you mentioned speaker fees, I used to hire an annual keynote for a Government agency and our average was 25k budgeted for this. For a 60 minute presentation. We never had an A-list speaker like Mark would be, so...do with that what you will.) Biggest things I learned because of the extended edition: 1. The "gender equality" speech from Annie that you liked so much (lol), 2. What Mark said when he found out that NASA hadn't told the crew he was still alive, 3. That Mark finished the OG mission for something to do, 4. That Martinez had to practice to save Mark...and it wasn't going too well lol 😆 Thank you for watching!!

Jessi

If you’re gonna watch another Matt Damon film I highly suggest Good Will Hunting.

Ian O’Brien

It was 50 days away not 50 miles. And that was only after mark made his rover go for twice as long by using the battery from the other rover. So 100 days away, and he could only do that as he was by himself. The rover supports two people max, and he had to jerry rig more life support for just himself. There was no way all six people could have made it to the MAV. And even if they did, the Hermes could only still in low Mars orbit for the original 30ish days.

Twiska Brand

Mars has lower gravity, so he doesn't need as much strength as you would think to move things.

Twiska Brand

This is a great film, but can we please STOP MAKING MOVIES ABOUT SAVING MATT DAMON!!! Lol

Mikel Swart

iv never understood the ending for this movie they had to leave because the wind was going to push there ship over ok but they just left one a few miles away by it self for 5 year.

monkeyman

Love this movie... it's pretty great on its science facts... except the entire premise at the beginning of the dust storm... there's not enough atmosphere to cause that amount of damage or that much wind or that much dust to kick up.

Preferred User

If he would have just flushed a few potatoes down the toilet he potentially could have saved his crops. Hindsight

John Dodo

wonderful film. great reaction. If you like space movies, i would suggest the film "Gravity" (2013).

Mister_Bleak

“One does not simply drive across Mars…”

Susan B

The external scenes were filmed in Wadi Rum in Jordan

WillowAndFog

I’ve seen this more than once and the tension still returns. Great storytelling.

Susan B

The loneliness would press down like anvils, and I actually like being alone most of the time. But am I really alone when I can make this connection, with my dog asleep at my feet?

Susan B

How endearingly optimistic that the entire developed world is working to save one life.

Susan B

A favorite moment: “It’s bigger than one person.” “No, it’s not.”

Susan B

And how cool to see Boromir actor in the room when the science nerds make aCouncil of Elrond reference. 👍

Susan B

More to this, Sean Bean is part of the NASA Project Elrond 'Secret council'

Wyatt Eldridge

I'm like dude, DON'T LOOK IT UP! Knowing it already happened.

D Montano

So yeah, a ship in space can't turn. It is always in a controlled fall towards the largest gravity force. Add enough speed and you get an elliptical orbit. The only way to turn around is around a body of mass and it has to be at the right speed and add speed again at the right time to escape that gravity.

Ruben VL

Love the rest of the cast, but I just can't take another Matt Damon in space after Interstellar. He was the most intensely annoying character I've ever seen. My favourite Mars movie is 2000s Mission to Mars with Gary Sinise (lt. Dan from Forrest Gump), although it was critically panned. 😅 Then again I also liked the John Carter movie, so maybe I just have bad taste when it comes to Mars.

Teth

Love this reaction. I'm not sure I have ever seen you so tense.

TigerMyth

"I don't think Ja-rule is gonna help." I don't know what's happening with your copy, but when I first saw this movie there were subtitles for this segment. "Why haven't they talked about turning around?" Orbital mechanics don't work that way.

Molly McAllister

He gets to hear some good disco: Thelma Houston’s Don’t Leave Me This Way, heard while he is dipping his potato meal in crushed Vicodin.

Susan B

Childish Gambino / Donald Glover is great any everything. His noir comedy series “Atlanta” on FX was hilarious and achingly smart.

Susan B

Sean Bean Ned Stark is the one who delivers the news to the crew that their buddy is still alive. It’s a very Ned Stark thing to do.

Susan B

Now that we recognize Matt Damon, Maybe is a good time to suggest watching the Jason Bourne Saga ☺️

Anabel Gonzalez

Recognize Sean Bean aka Ned Stark, aka Boromir from Fellowship of the Ring? He’s one of the NASA people. This is one of the rare movies where nothing fatally brutal happens to Sean Bean!! 😬

Susan B

I believe there is a Hawaiian island that looks like mars. It is were NASA test there equipment

Royal Williams

Love a film that captures kids’ interest in the sciences, by showing that the nerds we grow up with become the adult nerds with power.

Susan B

.same actor murdered his friends in Interstellar

Susan B

Matt Damon

Susan B

[WORD] Don't google it. Don't google it. Don't google it... He's googling it... Oh sweet Christmas he's googling it... HE GOOGLED IT! >XD Okay, and yeah. some people are just nasty. :)

Molly McAllister

Yay! FYI, an more dramatic and equally nerd-blessed book by the same author is Project Hail Mary, which as a movie in development.

Susan B

very good film

Slimsycentaur37

First. Let's get it.
