2023-10-02 05:06:38 +0000 UTCLove this movie! I don’t think the point is to promote eugenics… I think they’re saying that intelligent people should have more kids and society should put more emphasis on education instead of giving so much value to frivolous, trivial things.

2023-10-01 11:43:06 +0000 UTCAlso this was created by Mike Judge. He also created King of the Hill and Beavis and Butthead, among others. Also well known for the movie Office Space. He has satire down to a formula. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0431918/ And fun fact, when they showed Kenny's voice for the first time in the Movie for South Park, Judge was chosen out of respect.

2023-10-01 11:13:15 +0000 UTCA President who did Pro Wrestling and had sex with porn stars? A big leap? Made WILD promises? Yep. Seems TOTALLY off the wall for 2005...

2023-10-01 09:11:23 +0000 UTCA nice concept, but in the end all these "virtually creating your mind" ideas boil down to creating copies of yourself. The original you is still connected to your brain wich is the seat of the consciousness that IS you. So there is only one way to live longer than ordinarily possible, and that is by keeping the brain running. That is the only way.

2023-10-01 07:43:24 +0000 UTCThat doc coming in so nonchalantly saying "ok my niggas" is do fucking hilarious, and probably so beyond any racial meaning, or any meaning really, at that point that i feel like even the staunchest detractors of anyone using that word would laugh at that. Like if there's even a nanometer of humour in your being, that's funny

2023-10-01 04:13:12 +0000 UTCWestworld (the HBO series) takes on the concept of digitally reproducing human minds. It’s a terrific sci-fi puzzle box of a series.

2023-10-01 02:40:49 +0000 UTCThis movie was hilarious when I was 13. Now it's still hilarious, but it scares the bajesus out of me, too. Also, I wanted to chime in on the long-term storage of human beings. Rather than cryogenic preservation, it seems much more feasible that we could develop technology that stores a person's mind. Philosophically speaking, I don't know that consciousness as we experience it can be contained or expressed technologically, but assuming that a person's experiences can be, it seems reasonable that human beings would devise a way to do so in the future. Download the mind, store in some elaborate device, upload to a new body. Perhaps even a body that is a perfect clone of the original, or an augmented body of one's choosing, provided one has the means. Like Altered Carbon! Damn, Mr. L. Boyd, you gotta read Altered Carbon if you ever find the time.
