Love the shirt!

2023-12-15 01:49:20 +0000 UTCThere was no way King Theoden could have gotten help in time. The other kingdoms were several days ride away. It was already too late by the time they realized the army would be there by nightfall. It wasn’t due to his pride. Plus there’s no way they would have helped anyway. He was just being realistic.

2023-09-30 04:12:05 +0000 UTCHow could anyone forget the height of that forehead? I never remember his name, just his face.

2023-09-29 18:40:32 +0000 UTCAlso most people who watch the movies now hardly notice it's the elf from Lothlorien, but for those of us who had been obsessing over FotR for a year before TT dropped, it was all "No! Not Haldir!" 😂

2023-09-29 08:14:16 +0000 UTCSo they’re standing on the battlements facing 10,000 orcs and it starts raining. I always think of the grave robbing scene in Young Frankenstein. “Could be worse,” says Marty Feldman as Igor. “Could be raining,”
Susan B
2023-09-29 07:43:41 +0000 UTCA minor thing that annoyed me when I first saw the film: at the start of the battle, Legolas says to the archer standing beside him, “Their armor is weakest at the neck and beneath the arm.” Isn’t that something you’d want to announce to every archer instead of just that one guy? 😎

2023-09-29 07:38:00 +0000 UTCNo worries. It was a pretty dramatic moment when High Forehead Elf met his maker, because as someone else pointed out here, that moment reminds viewers that the elves who died in this battle could have been sailing off to the Undying Lands to enjoy their immortality but they risked death instead.

2023-09-29 07:34:17 +0000 UTCFringe is very underrated - great show!

2023-09-29 01:05:21 +0000 UTCI agree about Theoden and Boromir. Both are trying to save their people against insurmountable odds. From Boromir’s perspective, what real chance was there that Frodo would be able to destroy the Ring? Boromir had been battling the Orcs in territory near Mordor; he knew some of what lay ahead for Frodo. Without a belief in miracles, Boromir was left having to choose to let the Ring go to Sauron, or to take it himself.

2023-09-29 00:42:07 +0000 UTCI watched the whole movie. I think the video didn't render properly or something weird happened. I wasn't aware that some part/s were missing.

2023-09-29 00:41:40 +0000 UTCDid we see Forehead Elf get killed? I know there’s some Ent footage missing but did I miss the part where the elf dies in battle?

2023-09-29 00:35:25 +0000 UTCBoth happy and sad that you recognized John Noble who is the mad professor and father in Fringe, because that means that you must have seen it already. Was hoping for a reaction. :) One of the best shows ever imo. And John Noble absolutely spectacular in that role.

2023-09-28 23:20:04 +0000 UTC“What’s taters, precious?” I want that on a tshirt.

2023-09-28 23:00:30 +0000 UTCThe elves are immortal. Which makes their aid at Helms Deep even more spectacular. To risk your immortality by dying in battle... Puts a new perspective on sacrifice.

2023-09-28 22:15:14 +0000 UTCThe solemn speeches remind me that Tolkien was writing as a veteran of “the meat grinder” battles of WWI. My paternal grandfather was awarded the Croix de Guerre for his service in that war, but he didn’t talk about his heroism, sinking into despair and dying in his 40s because of all that he had seen and done. They weren’t very much advanced from Civil War methods but they had chemical weapons, and used them. “How has it come to this?” says Theoden, and I imagine so many men in bloody trenches asking that.

2023-09-28 21:48:54 +0000 UTCI always wondered why they freed the horse with a bridle and rope.

2023-09-28 21:41:25 +0000 UTCI hated the way Sméagol was brutalized. He was built like a miniature greyhound, and got kicked and pummeled and bashed against stone walls. No wonder his Gollum side took over again. What a performance by Andy Serkis as Gollum/Sméagol, though. It has to be extraordinarily challenging to take on a roll where you won’t get the recognition of the actors whose faces are on-screen.

2023-09-28 20:56:54 +0000 UTCMr Boyd, there’s a key piece of the trees’ story missing. In brief, Pippin and Merry find a way to show Treebeard what Saruman has done to the forests around his tower, and Treebeard calls his people to war.
Susan B
2023-09-28 20:34:57 +0000 UTCThe Wilhelm Scream makes itself heard in these films at least twice. 😀
Susan B
2023-09-28 20:00:40 +0000 UTCI love Theoden’s complexity.
Susan B
2023-09-28 19:48:51 +0000 UTCThe reason why the race of Men in Tolkien’s world are so easily tempted by power is that they envy the immortality of Elves. When the gods created them, they considered mortality to be a gift to Men. They wouldn’t have to experience the exhaustion of never finding a final sleep. But Men rebelled.

2023-09-28 19:38:01 +0000 UTCElves can’t die of old age. They can die but only if killed

2023-09-28 19:22:10 +0000 UTCArwen gives up immortality for her love. But the bigger sacrifice is knowing she could outlive Aragorn by ages.
Susan B
2023-09-28 19:15:13 +0000 UTCI’ve also wondered why Helm’s Deep wasn’t a permanent residence, and I think is the location. No farmable land nearby, just a fortress carved from rock

2023-09-28 19:05:09 +0000 UTCanother great one to watch. love the shirt btw. only complaint is that there is a chunk missing...apparently a sizeable chunk. don't know how they persuaded the ents to help. don't know what happens between the breaking of the wall at helm's deep and the next morning. just kinda skips that. how's that keep happening? usually the chunks missing aren't that sizeable, but i know it's been brought up a few times before....

2023-09-28 16:53:14 +0000 UTCRelations between Gondor and Rohan are strained at this point. And over the course of decades of war Both Rohan and Gondor has been weakened, as you saw Osgiliath is only just holding. And to top that off the "King" of Gondor(the steward), is Boromir and Faramir's father. Who you saw isn't exactly too reliable, at least not anymore😅

2023-09-28 16:37:55 +0000 UTCi was just about to mention the same. glad others caught it

2023-09-28 16:25:50 +0000 UTCDid you notice the guy shouting and throwing the spear? That was Peter Jackson the director😀

2023-09-28 16:00:02 +0000 UTCMy guess was always that that's the reason, why Dwarfs (Dwarves?) drink so much.

2023-09-28 15:55:06 +0000 UTCWhen Gollum/Smeagol are going back and forth seamlessly that was actually all done in one shot with Andy Serkis switching back and forth like that in real time. I dunno, always impressed me how he can switch his emotions and voices like that instantly. Also, the issue with Elrond not wanting his daughter to go with Aragorn is not because he doesn't want her to get married or anything like that, it's that if she goes with him then she forfeits going to live with the rest of the elves. This means he won't see her again and she will live with grief, after Aragorn finally dies, for eternity. But if she goes with the elves or if she liked some handsome elf, her father would be fine with that because at least he gets to see her and what not.

2023-09-28 15:46:45 +0000 UTCElves are indeed immortal, Elrond is thousands of years old. They can be killed however😅
gak9319
2023-09-28 15:09:48 +0000 UTCThe horse that saved Aragorn was the same horse that he calmed and set free before they left Edoras. It used to belong the King Thèoden's son🙂

2023-09-28 15:06:39 +0000 UTCTheoden is probably my favourite after Boromir because they're both such complex characters. They're flawed, but also trying their best to protect others in the hopeless situation they're in. When he said the old alliances are dead, he wasn't wrong. The only ones they could really call on for help was Gondor, and they're busy dealing with attacks from Mordor. They weren't expecting elves, and certainly not trees. But Bernard Hill is a fantastic actor. The way he carries himself and delivers his lines exudes that nobility of spirit you expect from a king of old. And there are some dwarf women in the Hobbit trilogy, beards and all. They're plenty cute despite the facial hair 😄

2023-09-28 13:29:04 +0000 UTCWow a lot was cut out

2023-09-28 13:15:21 +0000 UTCNoticed that to a bit of the battle scene

2023-09-28 13:12:05 +0000 UTCIt seems like we're missing a chunk of the movie around the 1:30 mark? After the ents decide not to help. I know it happens sometimes when the files corrupt, but not sure if it's intentional or not.

2023-09-28 13:01:56 +0000 UTCSomething is fucked with this version - it lacks about 20 min of footage.

2023-09-28 11:19:12 +0000 UTCJust a heads up. There's a small section of the reaction missing at 1:27:46

2023-09-28 10:55:41 +0000 UTCWell that's dissapointing. The playback skips ahead from Pippen's speach to the siege of Osgiliath, completely skipping the scene where Gimli get's tossed.

2023-09-28 10:29:28 +0000 UTCAlso, i need to come to Theodens deffense here. What good wouldve sending riders to Gondor brought? They had 1 day till the Uruks arrived. No Chance they could show up in time. The only thing i would fault him for is not reaching out to Eomer (who's actor is Karl Urban btw, he plays Billie Butcher in The Boys). Like Eomer was literally riding around in Rohan. I don't understand why Theoden thought he wouldn't come to his aid. Also dont forget, he was under Sarumans spell for a long time. Any bridges there have been between men wer probably burned under his influence. U'll see in part 3, Theoden is a badass. And a good King.

2023-09-28 10:25:50 +0000 UTCUhh smth odd happened here. There's an entire section of the film missing? And it doesn't seem like there's a cut in your reaction, somehow the film just doesnt show you how the ents decided to attack Saruman

2023-09-28 10:03:50 +0000 UTCI noticed that too

2023-09-28 09:09:12 +0000 UTCHelm's deep is a much better fortress, which is why they're not permanently living there. It is a Fortress, not a livable city like their capital was.
Molly McAllister
2023-09-28 09:06:30 +0000 UTCDid a part of video get edited out? There's a whole section missing.

2023-09-28 09:01:29 +0000 UTCWhat Dwarf men find attractive about Dwarf women is that they are Dwarf women. That you don't see it is completely irrelevant. >xD
