Whens part 3 dropping return of the king
peter
2023-10-06 09:58:55 +0000 UTCSimply amazing. I was thinking the same thing as you when we saw the old rotten version of the king. Is that sleepy Joe 😴. Lol. Funniest part about this one is when Vigo Mortenson (Aragon) was doing the scene where he thought Merry and Pyp were dead and he kicked that helmet, he actually broke his toe. So that scream was truly real lol. On to part 2.

2023-10-06 04:29:47 +0000 UTCGandalf (and also the balrog!) are not creatures of middle earth; they are essentially minor deities/angels that occupy our world. The depth of the lore created by Tolkien goes WAY beyond the scope of the trilogy of books these films are based on!

2023-09-29 08:56:10 +0000 UTCdont forget about Hidalgo

2023-09-26 20:12:46 +0000 UTCSo has it hit you yet that Aragorn is the same guy from A History of Violence? Doesn’t look like him lol

2023-09-26 01:28:36 +0000 UTCGandalf
Camille
2023-09-25 21:39:50 +0000 UTCAlso, he has a lot of different names
Teth
2023-09-25 09:23:06 +0000 UTCwhen Gandolph is confused about this name it is because when he first is telling you about how he reincarnated essentially, he said every "age"/millennium= one day on earth, so he has actually been gone and separated from the persona of "Gandolph" for thousands and thousands of years. so, it took him a minute to come back to his past life so to speak and recall everything going on.

2023-09-25 07:42:48 +0000 UTCHe graduated Oxford, in June 1915, and enlisted as a second lieutenant in the Lancashire Fusiliers later in the same year. He saw action almost immediately at the Battle of the Somme (July-November 1916), which claimed the lives of two of his closest friends.
Lonnie Vannatter
2023-09-25 06:56:18 +0000 UTCIt was a tree? I thought the beginning was always “In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit.” The large furry feet, and the underground houses, always made me imagine that hobbits were little rabbit-people.
Susan B
2023-09-25 05:42:34 +0000 UTCDid you know that the author JRR Tolkein was a English professor ad one day he happened to comment across a students blank exam paper at the top he wrote "in a tree there once lived a hobbit" and thus a saga was born...
Lonnie Vannatter
2023-09-25 02:46:31 +0000 UTCFool of a Took! :-)

2023-09-25 02:42:07 +0000 UTCMiddle-earth is quite vast, and the road from the Shire to Rivendell, to and into and then back down from and then under the mountains, out of the mountains and into Lothlorien and down the Anduin River, to the threshold of Mordor, is more around nine months travel. So aside from the of time, Gandalf reports experiencing, in normal time, it was a little more than three days ago. I would actually suggest having a map of Middle-earth available for reference, since we all had one, right at the front of the book, from the beginning.

2023-09-25 00:38:12 +0000 UTCOkay, nerd impulses are creeping in. Gandalf and the balrog are the same order of being--Maiar--but Gandalf is actually true to his purpose to assist, guide, and protect living things. The balrog he fought wouldn't have harmed him a whole lot with his hellfire whip, especially after Gandalf just invoked the flame of true creation. TL;DR When Gandalf says "fly, you fools," he's gonna 1v1 something that can any% your squad.

2023-09-24 22:53:19 +0000 UTCHighlight of the week. Though I have to say: releasing an episode of LotR on a day where my university work has piled up is pretty messed up. I had to wait until today to actually watch this. Should I send you my schedule, perhaps? That way you could release your content at more opportune times!
Jakob
2023-09-24 22:44:36 +0000 UTCBogs are also generally unnatural, i.e. man-made. They form when land is cleared for farming, and then abandoned for a sufficient amount of time.
Nick Chevalier
2023-09-24 22:43:33 +0000 UTCThe Elvish cloaks they were gifted are magic and help to conceal or camouflage them. That’s why it changed to look more like a rock. And yes, Aragorn is known to be the best tracker in Middle Earth. That’s his specialty!
Tron
2023-09-24 17:49:53 +0000 UTCI guess you’re not familiar with bogs for whatever reason, but bogs are well-known for preserving bodies since it’s an acidic and oxygen-free environment which prevents decomposition. Many important historical (archaeological) discoveries have been made in bogs for that reason.
Tron
2023-09-24 17:41:36 +0000 UTCWhat about the unicorns in the Tangerine dream version of Legend? That theme slaps as well.
Triforce of Shadows
2023-09-24 13:29:11 +0000 UTCI'd say it's pretty evidently because he had it for so long that it completely changed his physiology. It's corrupted him to the point where he can't touch elven rope or eat elven food.
Teth
2023-09-24 13:01:31 +0000 UTCI was looking forward to you seeing Edoras ever since you mentioned Skyrim. That is 100% Whiterun, and they actually built it! I think the weed is supposed to just be tobacco, but the films are constantly joking about it possibly being *weed* weed. 😂 Most of your other questions will be answered later on. Can't wait for the next part!
Teth
2023-09-24 12:57:54 +0000 UTCGandalf - “You shall not pass!” Mrlboyd- “ The Amazon guy just tripped my front door alarm” Both effective and epic in there own way

2023-09-24 09:22:36 +0000 UTCHahahahaha, WAS it Greater Restoration, or just Remove Curse??
Mike MIchelsen
2023-09-24 08:37:45 +0000 UTCBeing an angelic being is what gives him access to the cleric's spell-list of course, which was how he could cast Greater Restoration on King Theodan.

2023-09-24 08:26:31 +0000 UTCI was talking about reefer lol. Where I'm from people call it pot, dope... All sorts of names.
Christopher Wichman
2023-09-24 06:05:40 +0000 UTCNever thought about how closely the Daedric architecture from The Elder Scrolls resembles the architecture of Mordor until now.
Nicholas Johnson
2023-09-24 05:24:53 +0000 UTCMy view is that it is because Gollem had the ring for about 500 years and Billbo only about 60 to 70 years. Maybe having the ring longer make the ageless effects last longer. But yah it definitely is something that could of been brought up.
Kyle Komperda
2023-09-24 04:58:09 +0000 UTCThere's quite a bit of conjecture as to why Gollum doesn't seem to age to the point of decrepitude during the intervening years between Bilbo taking ownership of the ring and Bilbo giving the ring to Frodo. So much conjecture, in fact, that I don't think I could provide a satisfying answer if I tried haha. I will say that the films differ from the novels in the way Bilbo is depicted after having parted with the ring, and because of that, the visible aging issue is avoided.
Jake Martin
2023-09-24 04:49:29 +0000 UTCVigo adopted that horse after filming because they formed a great bond
Kyle Komperda
2023-09-24 04:47:57 +0000 UTCAs to what Gandalf is. He is a being called a Maiar. "300 lives of men have I walked this earth..." Kinda like angels. They were servants of the highest. And helped with the creation of the world. Some were true, and some fell to evil,.. Like Sarumon... Some fell and rose again, Gandalf the Gray to Gandalf THE WHITE, since Sarumon was no longer the white wizard.
Mike MIchelsen
2023-09-24 04:29:37 +0000 UTCDope!? Tweekers make dope in trailers. And I say up with hope, dooooown with dope. Pipe weed is ganja. And The Shire grows the stickiest of the icky. That's why they're always so hungry. Second breakfast? More like morning munchies.
Mike MIchelsen
2023-09-24 04:25:51 +0000 UTCThe movie likes to imply it's dope though lol.
Christopher Wichman
2023-09-24 04:18:33 +0000 UTCPipe weed is just another word for tobacco. Tolkien was a language professor and giga nerd, which is why he invented several languages incl. Elvish and also why he uses such beautiful (imo) language coloured with older phrases.
Camille
2023-09-24 04:10:40 +0000 UTCThe Dead Marshes contains the spirits of men, elves and orcs who died in the great battle you saw at the beginning of the first movie🫣🙂

2023-09-24 03:54:13 +0000 UTCFun fact Vigo actually broke his foot while kicking that when they found where meri and pippin escaped and thought they were dead.
Kyle Komperda
2023-09-24 03:45:58 +0000 UTCGo on and say it Joey B should hand it off! Lol
Kyle Komperda
2023-09-24 03:39:16 +0000 UTCGuys we can say the fact about the kicking of the helmet and Viggo (Aragorn) breaking his foot when doing so now! Hooray! Also when you say he is the best tracker in the history of trackers, yeah, he pretty much is. He is one of the best trackers/rangers in all of Middle-Earth! Also, Shadowfax is the only horse I know that has his own kickass theme.

2023-09-24 03:31:08 +0000 UTCMy single critical thought on this entire trilogy was that Treebeard was boring. It did create a snack-bar opportunity.
Susan B
2023-09-24 03:27:57 +0000 UTCThe cloaks given to them by the Elves are capable of changing texture to blend with background. Like an octopus.
Susan B
2023-09-24 03:26:21 +0000 UTCWho's gonna tell him about the helmet kick. Has to be a few every reaction 🤣
Woes
2023-09-24 02:37:52 +0000 UTCGollum was once, as Gandalf told Frodo in the first film, not unlike a Hobbit. 500 years alone in a cave with the Ring made him what he is.
Susan B
2023-09-24 01:50:17 +0000 UTCI don't remember if it's been said already who Gollum is so I wonder if it's a spoiler 🤔
