This was banned on release in some areas of Britain, completely band in Ireland, Sweden, and a good few more countries, Not because of the language used, but because of What the catholic church saw as an outright attack on their beliefs

2023-10-02 16:42:07 +0000 UTCFun Fact about the "Biggus Dickus" dcene. Only ceasar, brian, and the guard captain knew what was going to happen. the extras(The guards) didn't know what was going on. they were genuinely trying not to laugh.

2023-09-27 03:12:34 +0000 UTCIt's strange to see what we could get away with saying then vs now. it feels almost as though, in our strive to become more accepting and equal in our freedoms, we have instead become less tolerant. I think there's a kind of irony in that.

2023-09-17 18:22:20 +0000 UTCThe late 70s were more progressive in a lot of ways than 2023. This film was controversial but only to the extent that some religious people picketed theaters. I can’t imagine any distributor having the balls to release it these days.

2023-09-13 18:20:34 +0000 UTCUnless you lived a few miles from wingnutty Bob Jones University, as I did in 1979. They tried to shut it down in local theaters.

2023-09-12 01:35:26 +0000 UTCThe Meaning of Life is another Monty Python classic that I think you’ll absolutely love lol. Can’t wait to watch this! Also, if you noticed under Executive Producers it said George Harrison, that is THE George Harrison of the Beatles. He was a big ol fan of Monty Python and provided a large portion of the budget to have this film made, which is why they could afford actual animals :D.

2023-09-12 01:02:47 +0000 UTC'Nicked'. British slang for taken. Used by the lawful to refer to someone being arrested, or by the unlawful to refer to something that's been stolen.

2023-09-12 01:01:53 +0000 UTCYou could make a religion out of this.

2023-09-12 00:48:35 +0000 UTCThat... the aliens... Um... In the previous movie they ran out of money so they ended-up doing something silly. This time I guess they had too much money so... they ended up doing something silly.

2023-09-12 00:29:16 +0000 UTCYou took all the fun out of it by explaining it. That's what I was gonna do.

2023-09-12 00:20:59 +0000 UTC*checks* Only it's not 2023... it's (checks notes) 1979.... I mean, 33 A.D. (Sadly John Cleese never did change his mind about that.)

2023-09-12 00:03:16 +0000 UTCLet's goooo! And those animals at the start I think were Dromedaries, or some kind of camel anyway. Just with LOTS of fancy tassels and barding and whatnot. And yes, the same cast. Monty Python, that's who that cast is, the members of the British absurdist comedy troupe called Monty Python. (In case you were thinking all this time that Monty Python was a dude, the name of some producer or eccentric wealthy backer or some such. No. It's a comedy troupe. Like 'Second City' or 'The Kids in the Hall' or 'The Upright Citizens' Brigade'. Full name, 'Monty Python's Flying Circus'.)
