Let's not forget, the first season of GoT was also pretty slow. I'm pretty sure we'll get a lot of war in coming seasons. Now that the king has finally died.

Nicholas Johnson

straight up. the queen sucks and her kids suck too.

Ashley

Yes, too bad the writers HadToRushThingsToBeReadyToWriteForThatStarWarsMovie(that never happened) Had to 'forget' the Song of Ice and Fire, i.e. the entire point of the series.

Molly McAllister

Surprised no one's pointed out the connection to the suckling pig and the younger brother laughing at Aemond... calling back to Aemond's first 'Dragon' (the pig with wings).

Molly McAllister

Good point. In that case, either keep trying or risk your childrens life and civil war. I'd know my choice.

Hugobertram Wasenloge

How many people that "look like Laenor" hang out around Rhaenyra? The only people we've generally seen so far that bear any resemblence to Laenor are other Valaryons.

Jeremiah Smith

Nah i feel like they still could've mamaged somehow. Like, more than once. But even then, find someone that looks like Laenor at least...

Hugobertram Wasenloge

She says that she and Laenor DID try to have a child, to no avail. If he couldn’t perform with a woman, then as far as I know, no mechanism had yet been invented (Turkey baster?) to get his sperm where they needed to be. She might have found some random white-haired lover if she’d been able to choose one from a catalog, but to produce heirs she was stuck with whatever babdaddies happened to live at the Red Keep. So she chose one she trusted, and hoped that their hair color would get little scrutiny. And in fact, nobody cared except the two people who hated her: Alicent and Criston Cole.

Susan B

Numbers 2, 3 and 4 are also Laenor. He is extremely not murdered.

Susan B

I felt certain this episode would get him a Best Actor nod at the Emmys. Disappointed that it didn’t happen.

Susan B

😂🤣😅🤣😂 This made my day lol.

Drewcliff82

Back then, daggers were built to last. These days, you can’t stab more than two people without ruining the blade.

Susan B

That clap was pretty. 😬

Susan B

People who are not dead: 1. Leanor. 😀

Susan B

Ok bro. Laenor is alive and well. They didn't kill him. He agreed to fake his death so he could leave with his lover and Rhaenyra could marry Daemon. He was shown with a shaved head rowing away in a boat at the end of the last episode. At the end of this episode the King thought he was speaking to Rhaenyra as earlier she asked him if he thought the song of ice and fire was true (Which was a dream that Aegon the conqueror had).

Drewcliff82

A lot of bloodshed might have been averted if Targeryans had given their kids different names: Aegon, Rheanys, Bob, Betty, etc. So when the King on his deathbed, addled by milk of the poppy, thinks he’s talking to his daughter and says, “Aegon’s dream,” the Queen won’t think he’s talking about their son Bob.

Susan B

The prophesy would make a lot more sense to viewers if GOT had carried it to its conclusion. “The prince that was promised,” a Targheryan on the Iron Throne to unite the realm against the cold and dark. Sorry, Aegon the Conqueror, the writers of Season 8 forgot about your prophesy just like Arya forgot about that horse. “It’s a very forgettable horse.” 😬

Susan B

Go team black

JC

Haha, I'm so frustrated you didn't recognize Lenore rowing out to the boat. Your feelings on Rhaenyra are now skewed and clouded because you're thinking she did things that she didn't do.

lance tophoj

aegon and helaena (alicent’s son and daughter) are married and that’s what her comment was about aegon ignoring her except sometimes when he’s drunk lol, but poor girl didn’t even understand that she was dissing him. also the clip of rhys ifans (otto hightower) doing the funny clap, if you look back on it and read olivia cooke’s (alicent) lips, she’s saying to him “stop making me laugh” and they just decided to keep it in

kallista

it fits extremely well i think, it’s symbolic

kallista

First two minutes of the last episode, the camera Very Clearly zoomed-in on Otto Hightower and the 'Hand of the King' pin he was wearing. Last two minutes of the same episode, the camera Very Clearly zoomed-in on Ser Laenor, hale and healthy, with his freshly shaved head.

Molly McAllister

LEONOR faked his death so he could be free with his lover. He’s seen alive in a rowboat at the end of episode 7. When Rheanera tells Rhaenys “I did not order your son’s death” she is telling the truth. It’s a truth that doesn’t help Rhaenys because she still thinks her son is dead.

Susan B

Essential point: the King believes in the prophesy he shared with his daughter, and his / her decisions about the legitimacy of heirs are based on his belief that her line will fulfill the prophesy.

Susan B

Leonor is alive! They didn’t plot to kill him, but to help him fake his death so he could live abroad with his lover. He was the man with shaved head who rowed away in a boat at the end of episode 7.

Susan B

One of the reasons I like your reactions so much is because you dont have the same views and opinions as most other reactors so im not going to sit here and say you're being too harsh on Rhaynera because it's your opinion and I respect it but just fyi they didn't actually kill Laenor, they faked his death so he could go live his life with his lover and her and Daemon could marry.

Alyssa Dyson

Remember that Otto Hightower became Hand again after Larys murdered the old Hand, Lyonel Strong as well as Lyonel's son, Harwin Strong. Remember that Allicent was upset that her father was no longer there, so that's why Larys did that and said to Allicent "I feel certain you will reward me". The reward in question is for returning her father to power. We saw Otto wearing the Hand symbol back in episode 6, indicating his return to power. Also side note: Lyonel and Harwin Strong are Larys' father and brother respectively, and he gladly killed both of them.

Jeremiah Smith

At the end, what you didn't understand. He was talking about the song of fire and ice prophecy; "Aegon the conquerors dream". He has instructed Rhaeaera to be the one that carries that prophecy to the next in line. He thought at the time he was talking to Rhaenaera. But now Alicent mistakenly thinks he was basically saying he want their son, Prince Aegon to take the throne.

Matt Rumsey

So apparently when the crown fell off his head, and Daemon helped him put it back on; that was unscripted! And they went with it! And subsequently kept it in!

Matt Rumsey

FYI! They didn't have her son killed. They faked the death to allow him to flee with his lover. I think you didnt pick up on that scene!

Matt Rumsey

If the kerfuffle is what drew you into game of thrones then just image the kerfuffle that is being setup before you. On a separate thought, I think its easy to loose sympathy for Rhaenyra due to the actions she has taken. However we must keep in mind the weight placed on her when her father said that the world would need a Targaryen on the throne to protect the realm from winter. Maybe the writers didn't have enough to time to flesh out that part and thus we don't get to see how that prophecy affected her judgement. I think her confession on his bedside was genuine just as much as it was selfish. Selfish in the sense that her life and the life of her children would hang in the balance. But also sincere in the sense that her fighting for her claim is something he desired and put into place. She didn't want to rule, she didn't want to be involved for the politics. If it weren't for the pressure of the prophecy she would have ran off with ser Criston Cole. She reshaped her life to fit this prophecy that was thrust upon her, and she did at bad job making choices. But what is she to do. she asked if he really believed that prophecy because she needed to find that resolve whether to fight or not. The stakes have turned the game of thrones into a life of death situation for her and her family.

David Melo

The Aegon that the king spoke of to Alicent moments before the episode ended was Aegon the Conqueror, and his dream he was referring too. King Viserys thought he was continuing an earlier conversation with Rhaenyra where she asked if he truly wished her to be heir, and he was stating that it was she he believed to be the next successor to the throne. Alicent heard what she wanted to hear and believes the King was telling her he wished their son Aegon to succeed him.

Christopher Wichman

Usually i don't mind your view on characters differing from mine, and i mean i don't really mind it now since I'm still shamefully addicted to your reactions, but, i have to break a lance for Rhaenyra here: I feel like you're holding her unfaithfulness towards her (now fake dead) husband against her to an unreasonable degree. While i am 100% on your side when it comes to cheating in any other regard, this is different. He was gay. They didnt wanna marry. He was completely aware of what's going on and went of to do his own thing. That was their deal. The whole deal between Alicent and her is that one follows her passions and is being her true self instead of pretending to be something else. Alicent obviously didnt wanna marry and have sex with an old decrepit King, even if he was good hearted. She was whored out by her own father. So now when she sees Rhaenyra do what she pleases in that regard, she is reminded of her personal tragedy and hates her for it. Now where Rhaenyra 100% fucked up was: A: Not making sure her firstborn is her Husbands and B: Openly and obviously fucking someone else instead of doing it secretly like every other royal ever. But that doesn't make her a betrayer or a bad person persé, just stupid/naive. As for the legitimacy of her claim or her sons claims blabla... who cares? Like you said yourself, this whole royalty shit is dumb and disfunctional anyway. And better do everything you can to make sure that the kings proclaimed heir gets the throne, even if her kids are bastards, rather than divide up the family like the Hightowers do for nothing but their own gain.

Hugobertram Wasenloge

I think the main reason I'd prefer to see Rhaenyra on the throne is at least her children aka heirs, are not rapists or ruthless twats.

Christopher Wichman

Tormund is the only character with real solid advice about "love making" lol...

Christopher Wichman

Rewatch the last 5 minutes of ep7, i think you might've gotten things mixed up.

Hugobertram Wasenloge

Viserys thought he was talking to Rhaenyra at the end. Answering the question she asked the night before. The dagger at the end is THE dagger, that the prophecy is written on. And the dagger that Arya kills the Night King with🤓

gak9319

She didnt kill her husband to marry Daemon. That was faked. He lives across the Narrow Sea with his "friend "

matt Henning

The Hand is allowed to sit the Iron Throne. Ned did for Robert and Tywin did for Tommen in GOT😁

gak9319

Yes I was going to say this too, Laenor was in on it😅 He went east with his lover🙂

gak9319

I also like how Criston Cole is pretty much ageless but Aemond One Eye now has the chin of a 30 year old lol.

Christopher Wichman

Otto Hightower became Hand after the last one died, so he was Hand last episode(six years ago)😅

gak9319

Just making sure, you do know that she didn’t actually kill her husband right?

Jonathan Campbell

Absolutely…

Lonna Neil

This episode is some of Paddy Considine's best acting all season.

Christopher Wichman

It’s getting close to the end of season1. I hope you will continue with the GOT world. Great reaction
