2023-08-26 04:47:52 +0000 UTCAs you may have noticed in the intro, the monty python guys were strangely obsessed with Scandinavia for some reason😂

2023-08-21 03:34:11 +0000 UTCNot only did they end it, the ending is the literal definition of a cop out.

2023-08-20 00:10:17 +0000 UTCThey famously ran out of money before the end of shooting, so they just ended it.

2023-08-19 14:22:30 +0000 UTCMonty Python's Flying Circus. Not sure if they actually invented 'British Absurdist Comedy', but they certainly codified it. Which is ironic since the troupe's originally stated goal was to produce absolute nonsense that would have no cultural relevance whatsoever.

2023-08-19 11:47:56 +0000 UTClol. This isn't Star Wars. No sequels. All stand alone films. I guess watching them in order you can see the budget increase as well as the direction and cinematography gets better.

2023-08-19 06:59:13 +0000 UTCI think the director style it reminds you of is Mel Brooks. I think he drew a lot of inspiration from them

2023-08-19 06:26:45 +0000 UTCIt was even in some guild bylaws. The directors guild actually forbade Steven Spielberg from working with Lucas on Return of the Jedi (his first pick for director) because George refused to put the credits before the opening crawl.

2023-08-19 05:42:20 +0000 UTCThe co-directors are members of Monty Python. John Cleese was a member of Monty Python. Terry Gilliam the director went on to direct several solid movies. I'm sure you have already had requests to watch 12 Monkeys or Fear & Loathing. In Grail he is playing Arthur's squire clomping the coconuts. Monty Python was a British sketch comedy troupe in the 70s that became popular here in the US on PBS. People will push for you to watch Life of Brian but swim against the current. Watch The Meaning of Life.

2023-08-19 03:41:45 +0000 UTCOkay, brother Boyd, let's get into some human lore. You're right that the elderly woman appears in many, many mythologies, including the infamous "night hag syndrome" of sleep paralysis that I've personally dealt with. There's also the "werewolf," in which "wer" means "man." Some cultures don't even have a female equivalent to a vampire. Supernatural objects of terror take on the aspects of our own fear, so a woman becoming old and unattractive or a man becoming dangerous and violent are really the same ancient tales. Different cultures have their unique spin on these gendered monsters, as well.

2023-08-19 02:37:30 +0000 UTCJust to answer your question at the top. Back in the day movies had the credits in the beginning. Until the first Star Wars movie it was rare for a movie not to have the credits in the beginning. After Star Wars it became the norm to put them at the end.

2023-08-19 02:28:20 +0000 UTCOh YEAH BABY here we bloody go. Amazing film, love it, adore it. Monty Python's The Meaning of Life is a MUST for you to watch, I think you would find it a great laugh. Also, yes John Cleese is one of the founding members of Monty Python :D.

2023-08-19 02:27:13 +0000 UTCI crack up every-time I watch this. “I’m not dead, I feel just fine”! 😂 my brother and my niece both have tattoos of swallows carrying coconuts in their beaks. People are either confused about it or love it because they know the reference. 🐦⬛🥥
