The US is a pretty bad example of how this stuff works in most of the civilized world. Marrying very young mostly happened between the nobility, and just because they got married young didn't mean the marriages were consummated right away. Commoners would often wait until 18-20 since a woman is more likely to have pregnancy related problems too young. As seen on this show.

2025-02-05 17:58:08 +0000 UTCMrLB - There are 2 states in the US right now that have 15 with consent of the parent. In your lifetime, there were numerous states with even younger ages but those were all changed. Back then it wasn't weird. It was the norm. You forget the average life was MUCH lower than today so people got started much faster. at 45 you were very old. Even your pal, Ned Start agreed for Sansa to marry Joffre before she flowered as Cersei called it.

2023-08-12 04:43:17 +0000 UTCAll righty then... Marrying children? Royal Incest? Sorry bro, it's par for the course in Medieval Europe which Game of Thrones is loosely based upon. Funny thing, by Medieval feudal tradition it was possible, even required some times, to 'consumate' a marriage without consumating it... like if the bride was too young at the time, or if the husband wasn't in the same country. The bride and one of the husband's most trusted man-at-arms would sleep together, on Top of the bed sheets. She would be fully clothed, and he would be wearing a suit of full plate armor. As for Renerys and Allicent's relationship... there are theories, will save those for later though. Daemon... Daemon... Daemon... The one thing you can be certain of with Daemon is he's unpredictable, nobody knows what his actual deepest motivations are. He does seem to love his brother and his family truly, but he's rather fond of lashing-out. Could be he's scheming for the Iron Throne for power and glory and other selfish reasons, could be he just wants to be acknowledged by his brother. Could be he insulted his late nephew because he really only wants to keep the title of heir to the throne for himself, could be he did it to deliberately provoke Visareys into a 'shit or get off the pot' scenario and stop wibble-wobbling between officially recognizing Him or Renerys as Heir. Could be he was intending to stage a coup and the stunt with the dragon's egg was just step one, could be he was trying to provoke his brother into getting off his own thumbs and Rule. Renerys... about her being the best/worst diplomat. I think the real deal here is that Renerys has the capacity to be both Bold and Decisive, which are qualities a ruler needs. Daemon knows this, and Daemon knows his brother lacks these qualities.

2023-07-26 15:20:07 +0000 UTCDaemon's dragon Caraxes is pretty unique, at least the way it looks. It's nicknamed the Bloodworm, it originally belonged to Daemon's uncle Aemon Targaryen🙂

2023-07-26 06:57:49 +0000 UTCWhen you read Fire and Blood and read the amazing examples of Aegon the Conqueror, and the Old King Jaehaerys the Conciliator, who was the King before Visaerys, you can see alot of the mistakes the King, and his lesser lords make and even have an idea of what they should've done instead.

2023-07-26 06:32:37 +0000 UTCThis show gets better and better. A lot of people were demanding more action and u try to explain to them that that isn't how this part of the story is. This show is based on the book Fire and Blood and this is the buildup phase. Some things are forsure different in this show compared to the book but the overall path was the same. Viserys is a good man forsure but as a king he is often overly cautious and lacks the tenacity to do what needs to be done. At this point I thought they should have immediately taken action against the crab feeder. Get in there now and root him out before things get worse. Then he follows his heart and takes a match that makes little sense politically. I get it, but it wasn't the right choice I'm these circumstances. He's also pissed his daughter off as well by planning to marry her best freind. I agree with your assessment of Otto (The hand of the king) as well. He really reminds me of Tywin Lannister.

2023-07-26 05:57:48 +0000 UTCLaena is 12 here. She has not hit puberty yet. The way it works is they would marry but would not sleep together until she has and is able to bare children. (Still gross lol).

2023-07-26 03:23:34 +0000 UTCAlot of it was filmed on location or in sets bet there r a few scenes where they used the volume to create the scenes like harrenhal inside the sept like u said but alot is built or on location. Almost all of the lower streets of kings landing r filmed in Spain and the inside of the red keep is one massive set that u can walk through in the behind the scenes show they said after they built it they told literally everyone involved in the show to walk through it bcause u will probably never see a set piece that big and intricate again.

2023-07-26 02:09:32 +0000 UTCOtto Hightower (the hand of the king) basically pimped his daughter out to the king for power. The king is unaware of this and thinks alicent genuinely “likes” him. She will not tell rhaenyra because it will not only interfere with her father’s plan but could cause problems between her and rhaenyra.

2023-07-26 01:13:49 +0000 UTCno the hand is not in my opinion a good guy, and a lot of people tend to share that idea it happens. he basically pimps his own daughter, alicent, rhaenyra’s best friend, out to the king who is her best friends father. and alicent is young as well she’s only 15. so very strange behavior from otto hightower, the hand, only doing this terrible thing to advance his line by using his daughter as a pawn. people may argue corlys and rhaenys are doing the same with their daughter laena, which i do not agree with them doing obviously, but otto is doing it secretly. he’s plotting behind closed doors. also it’s kind of funny that daemon did all of that to get viserys’ attention and for no other reason, seemingly. daemon was right in one way: “i see otto hightower for what he is… [he’s] a cunt!” and this is a REALLY good show. it’s more committed to the books which will always be a thing in the back of my mind. and unlike game of thrones i know exactly everything that will happen in the show and it’s interesting to see how its adapted. very excited to see more reactions!!
