PATREON EXCLUSIVE: GOT SUMMARY WITH MY WIFE

Comments

There are so many Lord of the Rings correlations in Martin’s series. He has said he was inspired to create a version of Tolkien’s world where the consequences of good and evil actions are as random as they can seem in the real world. LOTR fans are struck by the similarities: GOT has “the half-man” and LOTR has “halflings,” a common nickname for Hobbits; both series have creatures who were built/modified to feel no pain or fear, including an Orc who pulls a sword further into his own chest during a fight, just as the Mountain does in his fight with the Hound. I love both LOTR and GOT equally, but rewatch them to deal with completely different moods. There’s little justice in Martin’s universe. It feels like a magnification of our own. In Tolkien’s universe, heroes suffer but it’s never in vain.

New here...how do I watch patreon on my smart TV. I can only pull them on my android any suggestions?

Marla K.

More of this. She asks the good questions

Yeah a lot of people hold the view that there is no Season 8 in Ba Sing Se. You should watch Avatar the Last Airbender next to get this reference.

Omg I didn’t know how much I needed this you and your wife summary 😂

Mary

I'm showing your comment to my wife, she's going to love your explanation.

I love your wife you guys are hilarious! Hate to get in on the bash but I don’t think you’re fair to Sansa. You gave everybody a little redemption except her. You spoke on stories, SANSA story is crazy, from the betrayal (because no matter what yes she did betray her family by lying) to witnessing her fathers death, brutally assaulted physically and sexually (the things she went through people never recover from) was rape and torture not good enough punishment for her betrayal? She went through a lot. The whole nepotism argument I don’t get, she became queen because she was the most qualified period. Her brothers are gone Bran couldn’t bare kids nor was Bran even Bran technically the three eyed Raven had claim to nothing. Bran died and I’m not sure why people ignore that piece. Sansa was the most qualified and clearly cared about her people, her concerns were always about how things affected the people. Now do I like how she went about everything no but I definitely forgave that child and enjoyed watching a young women find a tiny bit of victory after going through what she went through. If I went through anything like that I would probably be in a corner balled up mumbling shit, not ruling a kingdom so that’s a bit of my perspective. Anywho thanks for your reactions to this ! Looking forward to the new shows ❤️

Just have to say....Sophie Turner who played Sansa is 27 years old NOW. She was 14 in the first season. Also... not the first child (or adult) not to be brave enough to stand up to a king and queen and prince in a room full of people... come on... a little harsh to doom her for life for that...

Camille

You and you're wife are adorable. I love it. I agree that the end was way too rushed. The only thing I would like to add is I always thought they sent Jon to the wall as a "punishment" because they knew that's where he belonged and was happy. He never wanted to leave. He always had to. Tormand said that he has the real North in him, and when he was leaving, Jon had said he wished he could go with him when he gave him his wolf.

"This is stupid I don't want to watch this any more." That was me after S8 E3 lol I started 4 the next week when it came out and about 15 minutes in I just couldn't watch anymore.

Christopher Wichman

I'm on team never liked Sansa lol. Especially after she goes crawling to Cersei when Ned trys to send her home in the first book.

Christopher Wichman

I agree with this theory. There are many times he (Brand) could have done or said something to change the course of events but didn't. Then there is that coy "Why do you think I came all this way?" response to if he would serve as king when asked. Obviously, he knew the course of events would lead to him being crowned king. So technically HE sacrificed all those people to get a crown - which is pretty vile. My thought on Braun was 'what idiot would make THAT guy Master of Coin??' LOL (their bickering at the first new council meeting proved my point)

Emily Gray

This was really nice. Your wife seems like a solid person. Most of us disagree on what parts were good and bad about the end but the one thing we can agree on is that it was rushed and more time was needed. It's one of those things where it just is what it is. HBO was willing to do at least 3 more seasons but the show runners were trying to get into a deal to make the next star wars trilogy ( Which ultimately failed and they ended up taking a massive Netflix deal instead) and said they could only do 2 more seasons. On top of that some of the cast members were ready to move on as well. This is why I wish they would go ahead and do the Jon Snow show that would pick up where we left off or maybe a while after. I have a theory that the 3 eyed Raven is actually the bad guy and orchestrated everything that happened to take over everything. Anyways bro it has been a pleasure watching this with you as we agreed on a whole lot. Things most people usually give me he'll over (Especially Danerys). On to HOTD. 🔥

Drewcliff82

Mrs knows me, every time she cries is for a legitimate reason: either she's in horrible pain or something sad happened and I normally know what it is. Sometimes she cries with movies but rarely. She "manipulates" me with well constructed arguments lol But yes, if I don't see a logical reason my first thought would be that she's tryin to manipulate me somehow

Lenear Boyd

Okay bro I paused after the Sansa stuff to comment this lol. I'm kinda in between your opinions on this. I'm think Sansa is a pretty bad person overall. Not evil or anything but just one of those people that is a bad freind, sister, wife etc. She's very annoying and only cares about what she wants. At the same time I do beleive she is the rightful heir to the north since Bran is king and Jon isn't a Stark. As I said in the last GOT reaction comments if it wasn't for her Ramsey would have smoked them, Jon would be dead and the White Walkers likely would have still found their way in and killed everyone. I don't like her at all but that is irrelevant in whether she should rule or not.

Drewcliff82

That was good. Now I have a Q for you. I saw in another video you made , you said that if a woman started crying in front of you, you would consider that manipulation. After watching this, are you telling me that if Mrs started crying, you would consider that manipulation? I can't see that.

matt Henning

Finally got round to watch this. Just wanted to note how amazing and beautiful you and your wife's chemistry is sir, this was a great watch. A type of back and forth convo I had with my now fiancee after the show ended

Hey Mr B when I first saw you on YouTube, I have to say I wasn't a fan based on your interpretations but then you grew on me and I decided to sign up here as a supporting Patron. Your reaction and overall quick observation and insightful thoughts were so impressive. At some points I wondered if it was really your first time watching. It has been a great journey and I look forward to seeing you react to HoTD and other cool shows. Peace and love from the Big Apple 🍎

PatronPioneer

Hated everything about Sansa....period

PatronPioneer

I feel sorry for you bro.... your wife shot down a lot of your arguments with some serious GoT knowledge.. as smart as you are your wife is just as smart if not smarter! .kudos ]! i wouldn't have a wife who wasn't as smart or smarter than me. as you know, my wife passed before this season came out and i watched this season for the first time also. I'm alright with the ending, not the best, but it was ok.. My wife would have hated it, in fact she might have got mad and quit when aras was killed, she liked him for king, tried to explain, kings needed bloodlines and a eunuch cant breed... neither could Denarys for that matter... got to have someone to pass the crown down to. Anyway, thanks for allowing me to watch this and have a reason to watch the final season. I loved seeing your reactions... sex scenes clearly made you uncomfortable,, the surprise scenes like the red wedding and the death of Walter Frey and others were a joy to watch as you try to comprehend what was going on.

James Sipler

I am definitely in the minority here but I actually really like the ending and feel it is consistent and true for ALL the characters: -From the beginning Sansa has wanted to be a lady, a queen, and we saw throughout the show her grow and have moments of ruling where she proved promise and was wise and shown how she could be a good head for the north. (she is the one who saved john at the battle of the bastards because without her the other army would not have came, which set up the deletion of Ramsay Bolton. Plus, she was the only one who fought to free the north and let them live separately as their own kingdom, NOT because of nepotism but because that is how it used to be, and the people of the north fought the hardest and lost the most during the span of the show and they no longer wanted to be involved with the rest of the kingdoms politics, and Sansa came thought for them. -Arya- has always spoken about how much she would hate to live in a castle and live as a lady, she has spent 90% of her journey alone, traveling around the kingdoms and world learning new things and fighting, where she has leveled up as a character and person, so it seems fitting she would like to continue to go her own path and set out on another adventure! --- -John- never did well for himself as a person or as a leader until he went to the nights watch- he arrived with a sense of entitlement and grew to become a caring/honorable man and a great leader, also we have heard many many times how he has "the real north" in him, and his best friends, (other than Sam) are wildlings so for him he now gets to go back to where he is happiest, and will now pretty much take on the "king beyond the wall" title. -Sam always wanted a family and to be a master and now he has both. -Tyrion- has mentioned to Varys many times that he was happy and felt like he was good at being the hand because he enjoyed "the game of thrones" and knew how these people thought and had a good mind for the politics and schemes. Also, the moment int he shows where his character had the most growth was while he was the hand, so this fits him perfectly as well. -Bran- you yourself said would be a great candidate for king because of his journey, and at the end he didn't grant Sansa the north as an independent kingdom out of nepitism-becasue remember he basically no longer has human desires/emotions, so he wouldn't care if it was his sister asking him or care for her reaction if he said no, but because he knows the past, and has seen what they have been through and how well it works for the people in general, he always would have agreed it is the best choice for them so he granted it. -I loved how you called out Danny's ending from season 1 -it really was planted and hinted at from the very beginning! Even the vision she had when the sorcerers took her dragons and chained her up showed the ending episode in season 8, in the vison we saw the shadow of the dragon flying over the town and red keep-just like we did as it flew towards cerci, and we saw her standing in the throne room covered in "snow" as she reached for the iron throne but never got to touch it, and then in real life she stood in the throne room full of ash, falling through the air like snow, and we saw her reach out and finally touch the throne before john walked in!

Jenna96

Okay... one thing you need to know about 'House of the Dragon' before you step into it. Season one is basically the lead-up to the 'Dance of Dragons' which is a major event in Westerosi history, it get's name-dropped several times in the show. G.R.R. Martin wrote a book about it as a prequel. Now, here's the interesting part. 1) According to G.R.R. Martin his book is exactly the same as the 'Dance of Dragons' story known to people in Westeros as of the time of the GoT series. 2) Also according to G.R.R. Martin, both his book and the in-universe retelling of that book are both Fictionalized retellings of the matter and not the real factual historical account which is what the 'House of the Dragon' series is actually going to portray. So none of the Dance of Dragons tidbits dropped in GoT are technically spoilers. :D

Molly McAllister

Also I think if Tywin was on the stark familia side, he would easily be top 5 for you

Slimsycentaur37

I'm with you on the nepotism lol 100 percent. She doesn't get away with that even with Tyrion in power. And idk Sansa just looks like she thinks her shit don't stink. smug expressions all the time

Slimsycentaur37

The most annoying part is that hack who doesn't know how to finish his own story and complete his books. SMH I've never seen someone get off from accountability as easy as much as that lazy p.o.s. George Martin

Slimsycentaur37

I'm really glad you did this. the conversations with your wife are great and help humanize you even more. wonderful to see and interesting to see deeper into your thoughts on the show. :) I wonder if you would consider more of these "deep dive" conversations....maybe not after each episode, but maybe a separate post after each season or so?

Mister_Bleak

Bran was the night king and the lord of light. I'm 86% sure those are Facts. Fight me

Slimsycentaur37

Terrible! Terrible! Look how they massacred my boy!! One of the best shows ever made, with one of the worst, most poorly written, hacky finales. Everything tied up with a bow, and Bran the king. Fart noise. And this makes Bran a bigger villain than Danny or the Night King. While simultaneously being the most boring character in the show. He knew everything that would happen. Every weird ass bit of information he gave... Every push, every nudge. Every death... Leading to him as king. GARBAGE!!! I'm glad you agree.

Mike MIchelsen

I enjoyed all of your reactions in this series. Thank you for bringing a new outlook to the story.

Hbo would have done a significantly better job with star wars than Disney ever could

Convulsion Gaming

Hbo actually has 2 other shows besides house of the dragon that are coming from the game of thrones universe one is snow which is in extremely early stages and the other one is following George rr Martin's novellas that take place like a generation before the mad king. The reason that the tail end of the show started declining in the story is because they ran out of source material bcause he hasn't finished the books yet. House of the dragon is finished and they have all the source material for the whole show.

Convulsion Gaming

The most annoying part is that HBO offered the writers 10 seasons of 10 episodes each and they turned it down because they (supposedly) wanted to wrap it up and move on to star wars. The reaction to the Game of Thrones final season got Disney to take star wars off them though!

Jason

I think the thing i hated the most about the ending was how rushed it felt. The last season had people teleporting around. The journey from Winterfell to Kings Landing and back happened 3 times in 1 episode at one point, when back in season 1 it took them about 3 episodes to make the journey once. I know they can’t show us the entire journey every time, but it very much felt like “oh we’re here now and everyone else is here too”. It felt so weird to me that Bran was king over every kingdom except the one where he is from. Its like a Texan becoming president and then letting Texas become its own country but staying as president. It wouldn’t make sense. I mentioned this in the comments on the episode but i hate how Greyworm just abandoned all his character and let them appoint a new king who now gets to decide what happens to his prisoner. “Then choose” was one of the stupidest lines in history. Bran also said the entire time that he couldn’t be lord of Winterfell. Then Tyrion tries to make him King and he goes “why do you think i came all this way?” - makes no sense.

Jason

You and god have amazing chemistry

Jay Owin

I'm starting next week

Lenear Boyd

Are you planning on watching House of The Dragon?

Joseph LeRoy

Arya said earlier in the season that she wanted to find out what was west of westeros. Curious what else do you think she would do? Not become a lady or sit around the north all day.

Brandon Tracy-Hurst

Sweet. This was a good idea. Gonna watch this right after the reaction
